10:46a - Gay Republican Something Awful Wank
Over on those forums that defend all that is good and fluffy and light in this world, someone brings up the issue of certain groups of conservative organisations influencing the way sexuality & specifically homosexuality are taught in schools.
Republicans are, apparently, the spawn of Satan, Texas is abused, misinformation about queer bashing & "Survival of the species" is bandied about, and general wankery fun is had by all. They're only up to 4 pages, but I can see it going farther.

12:30p - baaaaabyanimals vs. childfree
The scales of Wank Justice are pretty evenly balanced on this one. Both sides had me rolling my eyes.
Over on baaaaabyanimals, ![[info]](http://www.journalfen.net/img/userinfo.gif) rhinecat posts a picture of a baby quail. She uses an icon that compares newborn kittens to newborn human babies, with results unfavorable to the Homo sapien.
weirddave, who is a moderator, apparently gets a complaint. In a display of friggin' brilliant modly judgement, not only does he post his request that rhinecat remove her icon publically as a comment to the post rather than speaking to her privately about it, he himself uses a picture of a newborn human in his own icon - and this one is flippin' the bird.
A couple of people comment on the double standard.
The denizens of childfree, scenting someone who likes babies about, show up and dogpile, because that's what they do.
The mod digs in his heels and bahleets the post, but happily it has been archived elsewhere.
The King of Kings and Mod of Mods steps in to smooth ruffled feathers. There is some continued bitching, but eventually everyone gets distracted by baaaaaby hippos and rhinos. Mysteriously, the mod who started the trouble no longer appears in the community info.
The denizens of childfree continue to hash it over on their own community, because that's what they do.

3:17p - Wikkid frickin' wanks: "Hate crime" wank in b0st0n
Yay! My first wank! Do me, baby.
b0st0n is where I go to catch up on what's happening in my college town, now that I'm far away. This week, however, what seems to be going on is a snowstorm of wank.
It begins with an announcement from pureacrylic on a recent horrific attack against a lesbian. Fairly standard call for everyone to look out for each other and find resources for help, until other posters</i> question the story's validity. ashley331 posts a link</i> to an unfamiliar (to me, at least) news source. In that same thread, garubark announces that said link is not reputable, and is just a haven for "just a nonsensical diatribe by some maoist that should probably be in an institution." Garubark and pureacrylic start to snarl at each other. Meanwhile, community decides that it's a hoax and moves on.
Shortly afterwards, garubark posts a charming parody substituting "queers" with "nigguhs". b0st0n scratches its head, but eventually sporfles.
pureacrylic posts a defense of the first post. Language choices are finally questioned.
Obligatory "good bye, cruel community" post from pureacrylic.
And ashley331 gets the last word here when she informs the community that her women's studies class received an email describing the incident too. The validity of women's studies as a field of study is questioned.
Governmental coverup? Shoddy news reporting? Maoist conspiracy? Just tl;dr? You decide, ![[info]](http://www.journalfen.net/img/community.gif) otf_wank.

3:58p - Who knew "parasite" was a curse word?
First time post, both here and on journalfen in general.
It all started when Wicked_Wish posted a... post about some article about-abortions-but-not-really. Her post was linked to everywhere.
At tmi_chix, there's always a bunch of "I think I'm pregnant... shit..." posts. One member thought that part of Wicked_Wish's rant was relevent, and posted that piece on tmi_chix with a link back to W_W's journal.
Bitchness objects to W_W's use of "parasite" to describe a fetus.
A bunch of people shoot back with a definition pointing out that it fits what a fetus is pretty well.
Bitchness replies many times that, because it was offensive, it shouldn't've been posted.
Wank ensues.

4:18p - the Dildo as a Defensive Weapon
Over on metaquotes, someone posts a snippet of someone’s rape the rapist rant. It’s a joke, the OP will point out a couple of times, although the sheer anger of the thing detracts from Teh Funny (and the original post was, if anything, crazier angrier).
Discussion breaks out like a rash, on points such as who is and isn’t on a sex offender registry, violence, and something so confusing I’m not even going to try to classify it.
