9:08p - Most pointless wank ever.
But there's nothing like mindbogglingly petty bullshit to brighten up a dull day.

Snopes.com has a LJ feed. In today's entry on a silly Home Depot rumor, twillitts posts a comment to the effect that the rumor is, indeed, silly.

bramcohenishot complains. About twillitts' sentiment? icon? spelling?

No. twillitts has a habit of inserting a blank line at the start of each comment, and that, apparently, cannot be borne.

It also transpires that bramcohenishot believes a link to the Asperger's LJ comm is the ultimate comeback.

This runs to 30 comments or so.

9:41p - to cut or not to cut, that is the question
In greatpoets, even the wank is slightly boring.

An uncut poem leads to requests to cut, and threats to cut.

Next up: Anne Sexton, uncut

Beowulf, uncut (with 36 comments, and accusations about fake journals)

More Beowulf, uncut (with 16 comments)

“I am not using fake journals”

A helpful, if mildly controlfreak-esque, suggestion

Fine ! I’ll use an lj-cut!

the mod (understandably) starts to lose it (and is rebuked in the comments).

Wow. This is a big one.

So City_Glitter's cat is badly burned by some asshole. She posts about it in her journal:

http://www.livejournal.com/users/city_glitter/844427.html

It turns out that her cat will live though the vet bills will be high. So apparently one of her friends, Manhattan, kindly suggested setting up a paypal for donations.

http://www.livejournal.com/users/manhattan/1140641.html

The Vet bills were said to be around $5,000 but within a few days, enough generous people contributed to cover the costs. (Note, I don't know how much of the $5k she needed but her post mentions that enough had been raised.)

But not everyone is buying the story. Foxfur makes a skeptical post:

I'm sure we can imagine how that went over.

But it turns out Foxfur may have been right to suspect.

Today City_Glitter posts that her cat was never burned and it was all an experiment to restore her father's faith in humanity.

Needless to say, a lot of people are very unhappy.

[eta] She makes another post saying that she expected everyone to believe Foxfur.

To be honest, I expected everyone to go read that post and to believe her. All of her evidence is well-thought-out, well-researched, and makes perfect sense. Furthermore, it took a great deal of courage for her to report the wrong of something she considered a close friend had done. I didn't expect for anyone not to believe her, and certainly didn't expect anyone to rip into her, flame her, and make her life Hell about it.
