I love politicartoons, I really do.
Generally, it's because I just plain enjoy political cartoons, but mostly it's because I enjoy the high levels of wank between the regular RAH RAH GO BUSH posters and the OMFGIHATEALLCONSERVATIVES posters.
Enter a fairly typical anti-war cartoon.
These always seem to bring the likes of megiloth, resident Bush Backer and active Marine, out of the woodwork to get snarly, and this is no exception.
megiloth: "Y'all are just waiting for that glorious 2000 body count mark aren't you? Maybe some sort of tie-in with the 2000 election and how Bush stole it. Or how if Al Gore would have won in 2000, we'd never be in this quagmire."
Not too wanky, really, but the liberal crowd piles on him (as per usual, I think he gets off on it; he's like a conservative version of me to some extent). They try to be rational at first, but megiloth, as usual, just prods them even more and whips them up into a frenzy.
Snippets such as this just cannot be ignored by the easily provoked:
" Leftists are pacifist pussies that would rather appease the enemy rather than go after them on their own turf."
"Timmy McVeigh is ashtray filler right now. Problem solved. His cute little buddy Terry Nichols is probably being raped in the shower right now. Once again, problem solved."
"Their turf usually involves third world shit countries, sand, and camels. In other words, it sure the fuck isn't gonna be over here."
This really sets off a storm.
Megiloth aside, others set off mini-fires of their own, including one regarding Katrina.
The whole thread is vaguely amusing, and I'm just waiting for the calls to "OMG BAN MEGILOTH!!"
Those seem to happen every few months when he really pisses someone off.
Sometimes, I think I stick around that community simply to watch him poke people with sharp sticks.
Edited to add: Though I really disagree with megiloth's political views, I found this to be highly amusing.
His bits are in regular type, what he was responding to in italics.
leftists believe that death is not a necessary outcome in solving the world's problems
ie: Sit around, talk aboot it, be really angry and write a stern letter to a dictator telling them how angry you are while circle jerking to Kum-bay-ya.
rightists are war mongering monsters who think that power, fighting, and killing and devastating examples of brute strenght with gross negligence
ie: Peace through superior firepower.
I'll take that last one, thanks.

Over on LJ ![[info]](http://www.journalfen.net/img/userinfo.gif) inxsomniax is pretty well-known in icon circles for her site, Hybrid Genesis. A great deal of icon makers have at least one or two of her brushes and textures.
Outside of making icons, she's also a digital artist.
A digital artist who was just ripped off.

As the LJ community Mock The Stupid isn't on my friends list due to high traffic and only marginally amusing stupidity, I would have missed this one had someone else on my flist not posted it.

However, several people are REALLY OFFENDED because looting is a minor sin compared to all of the death and horrors in Nawlins right now, and the whole thing degenerates into several wanks that include racism, crime and punishment, and just plain whining.
Oh, and there is at least one requisite, "this is enough to make me leave the community" comment.

8:23p - Kellogg's doesn't give a shit about you
This one's just weird.
squinting_kitty posts awhile back in feminist her shock! And disgust! At a relatively harmless Kellogg's commercial depicting a thin woman being blown away by a ceiling fan after eating a low-cal Kellogg's product. According to the OP, this is an "extremely harmful portrayal of body image".
She proceeds to write a furious letter to Kellogg's explaining that if they do not immediately remove the offending commercial, she will stop buying their products, which, she explains very specifically in several paragraphs, would amount to about a $200 annual loss for Kellogg's.
When she inevitably receives a vague form letter in return from Kellogg's, she is surprised that it says nothing of removing the commercial, which she had expected them to do immediately. Genuinely confused by this apparent oversight, she says: "I'm tempted to... use their online form to ask them to tell me whether or not they plan on taking that commercial off the air." Yeah, maybe they just forgot to mention it.
When community members point out that, duh, of course a multinational corporation isn't going to change their marketing strategy based on a single letter, squinting_kitty takes offense:
I'm one of those people who holds out hope when logic says there probably isn't a good reason left to hope. If you read my letter to them, you may have noticed that Kellogg's has made over $1000 from me in the past 5 years. In my opinion, that might have made a difference to them, especially considering there was no reason why my patronage should have stopped in the future other than this commercial. But I suppose they didn't give a shit.
Now, if you'd like to be helpful rather than just being snarky about my seemingly pointless hope in humanity, then you could write to them and help me boycott. Show them the snark. I plan to, and I would truly appreciate your help rather than your sarcasm.
