1:30p - Holding out for a wanker
Although this is loosely connected to fandom the wank itself is not fannish, hence putting it here.
In early October, mimesere makes a vague, non-fandom-specific post asking questions about the nature of heroes.
Yesterday, the daily_snitch inexplicably decided to link to her post. adora_spintriae decides this is UNACCEPTABLE BY GOD and marches into mimesere's journal to rip her a new asshole:
Sweet mother of fuck. When did nostalgic wankfests become worthy D_S linkage material? Can you explain to me what the hell this has to do with HP fandom, possibly without using rhetoric and pointless hyperbole?
Note: It's interesting that adora_spintriae doesn't have daily_snitch friended, which makes me wonder why she even cares what they link to.
mimesere's response is more or less: "I don't read daily_snitch, I didn't submit the entry to them and I have no control over what they link to. Please stop being an asshole."
Instead of simply apologizing for making an unprovoked attack on mimesere, adora_spintriae launches into a new assault, this time on mimesere's post, complete with a large steaming cup of condescension laced with a shot of batshit crazy. She might have some solid points, if you can find them under the frothing rage.
Enter mimesere's friends. You might recognize some of them from wanks of old, particularly thete1 and harriet_spy. Shockingly, they're not the wankiest kids on the block this time. That honor belongs mostly to adora_spintriae, bless her wanky little heart.
Small but quite satisfying.

2:54p - Small Gay Marriage Wank - But it's got very little to do with gay marriage
I'm posting on the thread, but haven't really got involved in the wank. ![[info]](http://www.journalfen.net/img/userinfo.gif) theferret posts a thread about telling the truth in politics, agendas, and other nice things relating to gay marriage. There's lots of interesting discussion. There are also some highly comedic parts.
First and foremost, daddicade posts What would you suggest as an alternative then, as you don't appear to agree that gay marriage - basically, two people of the same sex seeking societal approval and equality in tax laws etc. - isn't the answer? here.
Since the post said theferrett supported gay marriage, much WTFery and then wankage ensues. Particularly when the OP reveals he's gay and thus extremely victimized by the other posters saying he can't read.

4:15p - ONLY guns kill children!!
This is both small and recent, so I'm assuming that no one else will report it as I'm writing it up, but if that happens, my apologies!
Perusing customerssuck just now, allalonenow has posted a second try on a potentially inflammatory topic: a woman who got her car's seat stuck on the loaded, cocked gun she kept underneath it. Apparently the first time he posted about it (in a different C_S community) he was flamed for denying this woman her rights to bear arms.
In any case, hoping that the CS community will not miss the point by quite so wide a radius, allalonenow posts again and finds a much more sympathetic response, including fourgotten, who carries a gun of his own but still agrees this woman was abusing gun laws. He ends with "Responsible gun ownership, people."
While allalonenow is pleased by the polite conversation, on_a_hill is not; and as a mod she decides to use her modly powers to put the smackdown on all gun owners! or... something.
You almost think nothing's going to happen at first, since her first comment was relatively mild, and fourgotten continues to politely disagree, but... it kinda goes downhill. The entire thing is really almost only on_a_hill answering rather rational arguments about how other things can harm children with increasingly angry abuse, including stating that no kid ever dies in schools from knife fights, only shootings.
It is really very small, but on_a_hill goes from 0 to wank in two posts; always entertaining.

4:52p - Sockpuppet fun!
For all the MeFi fans, or at least MeTa fans, we have an epic sockpuppet outing going on in aisle 10543 - 182 comments and more each time you refresh, all about the fact that the lovable, cuddly dhoyt had three sockpuppets, including the well fleshed-out (and notorious) jenleigh.
Highlights include the fact this was y2karl's sleuthing that uncovered the details, thus much long, long, tl;dr posting by him; and dios deciding it doesn't matter anyway since he hates y2karl can't resist trolling um, just because! Also, note some of the quite personal AskMe posts "jenleigh" made: What can I do for my hair, given the soft water in my apartment? Another bonus: a thread where one sockpuppet credited another sockpuppet as the source - so a self-link in a twisted, sockpuppety way.
The topper, of course, is to reread MeTa thread 10450 to see one of dhoyt's sockpuppets ask why another of dhoyt's sockpuppets is always treated poorly by Mefites. *head explodes*
Disclaimer: I made one comment on the thread, but just along the lines of "dhoyt=jenleigh=omgwtfbbq?"
