12:48a - Wank in... KNITTING?
Yes, folks, we have knitting wank.
Over on ![[info]](http://www.journalfen.net/img/userinfo.gif) knitting, secretlifeof_em posts about how a Miss Manners clone says knitting in conferences is bad! and how cheesed off she is.
Many knitters agree that they are cheesed off. Many email the clone.
Some think that, while knitting is fun, it is rude to do it at a conference. Someone brings up ADD and multitasking (The whole thread has been littered with them). People get sarcastic.
Just remember kids, the internetz(and knitting) is SERIOUS BUSINESS.

As usual, there's been incest secrets over at ljsecret. Not to mention the dog.
Everyone is pretty much disgusted by #34(the dog secret), but in the middle of it all a mousie pops in defending incest, a la Hellfire.
People wank. A good time is had by all.
Except the dog.

2:05p - W for Wank

Libertas, "a forum for conservative thought on film", publishes a review of the forthcoming V for Vendetta by an anonymous reviewer who calls himself "Road Warrior".
"Road Warrior" excoriates the film as "a paranoid, left-wing fever dream of what America is here and now". Many (politically conservative) commenters agree. Some (not so conservative) don't. Lots of self-important wankiness on both sides, fun for the whole family.
As a sidebar to the main chatter is this gem concerning The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Apparently confusing "ode to" with "satirical commentary on and homage to", commenter Jim Rockford writes: Oddly enough; League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is practically the most screamingly conservative comic book ever written. It’s an ode to Victorian values, modes, heroes, writers, and attitudes (except for sex). I’m talking about the comic book not the movie. The aging great white hunter with the Elephant Gun is the central hero and he slaughters innumerable Chinese bad guys including Fu Manchu. And the comic book itself is FILLED with these weird Victorian ads and phony Victorian-style letters etc. It’s clear the guy really loves Victoriana. *snicker* *snerk* *giggle*
Full disclosure: I'm a raving comics fangirl and a big fan of Alan Moore's work (and I got a letter published in the lettercol for one of the Volume 1 issues, where I was told that I must amend my filthy reading habits and learn cookery and sewing, or else never get a husband), and a liberal nutcase. And although I initially had misgivings about the V film, I'm actually very interested in seeing how it turns out.
Edited to add: I highly, HIGHLY recommend that folks go to the Comic-Con section of the official Warner Brothers V for Vendetta web site and check out the transcripts of the Q&A. I was there, and my god there is GOLD in them thar hills. You'll want to listen to the audio transcript; the text versions edits down the most egregious episodes of fanboy cruelty (i.e. the Chronic Pain guy and the Mighty Ducks guy. You'll see what I mean when you get there). That being said, there is some good commentary from David Lloyd, the original V artist, and the third question covers the whole business of Alan Moore's disassociation from the film.

10:24p - Oh How the Pseduo-Intelluctuals Come Out After A Riot...
Roadrunner Records has the somewhat noble idea of letting members comment on news posts. However it is quickly shown that the public showing informative, eloquent responses to anything is quickly dashed with a story like this.
For those of you who don't know there's been a big punk concert called "British Invasion" in San Bernardino, California for three years now that draws people from all over the US and even Canada. Apparently this year a bunch of skinheads decided to start shouting "White Power" in response to anti-racist songs being sung by the bands. Other people started yelling "Fuck White Power!" and of course they immediately begin hitting each other, a punk even gets stabbed in the melee and the cops are called. Apparently this happened outside the main concert hall.
The cops show-up and start throwing tear gas after being met by a hostile crowd. The band playing at the time (Broken Bones) tells the crowd to beware of gas. This starts a panic and most people run out to the parking lot where concert-goers continue to get pelted by gas as they try to get to their cars. This of course just adds fuel to the fire and people began running down city streets mostly breaking windows but there was looting invovled.
