5:20a - okcupidlolz that won't die

So, okcupidlolz is a community dedicated expressly to posting the sketchy/oft hilarious messages people receive on dating sites.

As one would suspect, it has a largely female membership, and all the posts are about men.

chadtothelimit posts, suggesting that women invite this sort of unwelcome attention upon themselves. He makes some valid points.

However, he takes everyone who doesn't seem to agree with him 100% completely seriously. The tone of his replies suggests a personal agenda.

The mod, esotericfrench, also takes his post seriously.

It turns out that they have actually messaged each other before, probably as prospective dates! Personal attacks continue throughout their conversation.

Other people join in and it turns into a huge man-hating versus woman-hating catfight. Rape is mentioned at one point.

Lines include:
"Actually, in general, men are from earth, and women are from a magical land where they deserve everything. Women in this country are typically raised with over-inflated self-esteem, which leads to the princess attitude."

and
"I'm a Men's Rights activist. Therefore, I know a thing or two about women."

Since this thing just keeps on getting bigger and bigger, I thought I might as well share it.

And yes, I am all over this post. Yes, I am there for the comedic/troublemaking purposes.

Dark_Christian is generally an interesting, not-too-wanky community dedicated to discussing Dominionist Christianity. It's comprised of lots of agnostics and atheists and some liberal Christians, with a few Buddhists and Jews and probably some Pagans floating around. Normally, people are able to keep these differences from exploding into spooge.

Unfortunately, it doesn't always work - even among the comm's many atheists. horvendile, an atheist, posts about militant atheists and why they suck, and memory_guilded responds fairly reasonably:

"I've found that many of them can be just as militant about their views as religious fundamentalists. Many of them attempt to convert the masses to their anti-theism, instead of showing tolerance and respect toward those who have different views than them. How can you expect the religious to accept your belief (or lack thereof) if you can't show them the same courtesy?"

pope_guilty: "Generally, there's nobody clamouring to murder a lot of people and enslave women and children on account of the lack of a supernatural creator entity wanting them to."

memory_guilded: "You want to target your intolerance toward bloodthirsty religious crazies, be my guest. But last I checked, the vast majority of religious people do not advocate murder and enslavement- which is why I have a problem with militant atheists (and people such as yourself) who make these kinds of broad and incorrect generalizations. Reread my comment, and see how it applies to you."

pope_guilty thinks Memory is missing the point (which she kind of is), but as they argue, pope_guilty quickly becomes the wankier of the two, claiming that reincarnation is violence and militant atheism is justified because there are crazy psychotic religious people.

Small bonus wank: metaphorge says that people rape and kill because they don't believe in God's morality. At least, I think that's what s/h/it's saying? It's a very convoluted sentence.

Over on the LJ comm poor_skills, isis_venomz asks for advice on how to get rent assistance. polyfrog suggests Modest Needs. The OP says she mentioned MN in the post and needs suggestions other than that. PF apologizes as he merely skimmed the post and comments on why MN probably isn't helping. Alright, fair enough. The OP is not amused and comments with Thank you, Captain Obvious. PF comments that perhaps the OP should be a tad nicer to those trying to help her. Oh, but he isn't helping according to the OP! And we're off!.

Oddly the majority of the posts does not deal with the OP's rudeness, but the fact that the poster OMG DIDN'T READ THE WHOLE POST!!!!111
