12:23a - Racism? Nationalism? It's just not cricket.
England cricket player Sajid Mahmood has a column in the left-wing English newspaper 'The Guardian'. He discusses the match and his hopes to actually play next time and then ends with a comment on the crowd.
I was carrying a drink round the boundary to Harmy when the first thing I heard was a voice from the crowd saying: "You can't be English." You're going to get stuff like that out here and you've just got to learn to ignore it. There's no point biting back because there's going to be a lot of it. I have to learn to block it out and not let it affect my game.
Australians take exception to this generalisation. Britons take exception to the Australians taking exception. Wank ensues, including "You're generalising!" "No, you are!" "It's because you people all the same!". Someone defends the word 'wog'. Someone tries to discuss cricket. The Gulf War is brought up. Meaty.

12:47a - Parakeet wank? No, not like that.
Parrot wank. It happens all the time, but it's underreported. No, I'm not talking about what my cockatiel tries to do on my hand whenever he gets the chance, I'm talking about good, old-fashioned wank of the "threatening suicide on a budgie (parakeet) community" wank.
Being a devoted parrot-slave, I'm a member of a bunch of parrot communities, including communities for bird species I don't own, just for the pictures. So, imagine my curiosity tonight when I logged on to Livejournal after getting home from work/school and found this in the budgietalk@LJ community.
Mostly, parrotwank stays in the bigger general communities. Tonight, however, the budgiepeople have wanked. Or one of them, at least. Spurred by a now-deleted post and a lot of alcohol, ![[info]](http://www.journalfen.net/img/userinfo.gif) jadedgeneration goes on a bit of an incoherent rant. And continues. Members of the budgie community are legitimately confused, most of us having missed the original post. This wank has it all:

Seriously, people. I know parrots are smart, but they look even smarter when you act this idiotic.

5:18p - Snowpocolypse 2K6 wank
Out here in the land of coffee and Microsoft, we've been having quite a month weather wise. First it was the flooding rains and for the past three days it's been unusally cold, snowy weather.
As such, people on the Seattle LJ com have been posting about it non-stop, most people just warning others where they've had problems on the streets and posting snow realted pictures.
Then Funnyoldcatlady posts a lovely little rant to the com:

All in all, while it's small, a good time is had by all. Me, I'm thinking I'll try and scrap off the duct-tape on my door.

8:57p - Having multiple kids makes you a racist!
Over at Pandagon, sharp-tongued blogger Amanda writes a takedown of a rather muddled op-ed by Mark Steyn in the Chicago Sun-Times. Her takedown focuses on how the author of the piece is apparently bemoaning the dearth of white babies being born, given that part of his article includes a section on a Palestinian grandmother who became the oldest suicide bomber on record over the weekend and how her grandkids will basically grow up and take over the world, and another section on his hard-on for Scarlett Johansson and how she's a tawdry whore for getting tested for HIV and condemning Pres. Bush's opposition to sex ed instead of having Steyn's white babies.
In the comments, Deep Thought and Tuomas claim that there's no racism at all and that Amanda is attacking a strawman, given that Steyn also criticizes Condoleeza Rice. And from there it all devolves into nearly 200 posts of wank about coded racism and the Quiverfull movement.
Really, I'm just posting this for the ASCII tank.
