12:10a - Atheists: Like Those Mean Girls in High School, in a Way
Over at the LJ community ![[info]](http://www.journalfen.net/img/userinfo.gif) dark_christian, nebris reposts an article called An increasingly outspoken community of atheists and agnostics is getting fed up with being marginalized, ignored and insulted. It's mainly about Dawkins's and Hitchens's success with their books about atheism and how it gave a lot of Americans the guts to own up to the fact that they're atheists (apparently atheism is next to communism in the good ol' USA).

In a spectacular failure of logic, common sense, and higher reasoning, Debbie Schlussel uses this study by Yale researchers to draw the conclusion that liberal, pro-choice Congressmen have slutty daughters.
I'll let you all ponder this profound insight for a moment.

Now, most of the commenters reply with various degrees of soul-cleansing earth logic. However, as in all wanks, some people are just out to make both sides look dumb:
The Canadien: Definition of Sluttiness: Women who use sex as recreation…divorced from its’ UNITIVE and PROCREATIVE purposes. They opted out of the DIVINE PLAN for mankind, issued forever, since Genesis.
Who cares anyway…sluts are fragmented, sensate types…the spiritual has no hold on them ~
SLUTS are unlikely to hold life as sacred…their own, or the unborn. And THE LAW long ago abandoned the unborn…so the “crooks” are in charge, and give assent to murder by the whores ~~

You have to make some serious assumptions to go from having more daughters to having more slutty daughters. A much more rational conclusion is that men who have more daughters are in touch with the issues young women face. They perhaps want their daughters to have the right to make decisions about what they do with their own body.
But y'know OBVIOUSLY being rational is overrated, especially if being an intellegent human being who makes decisions for yourself means you decide to have sex. Because that means you are a slut, and really, what's worse than being a slut?
(My answer, being someone who never gets laid.)
Why don't you just all convert to islam and sharia law and move to Saudi Arabia if you're this desperate to control women's bodies. Disgusting.
Small, but so full of specious logic, moral outrage, and sheer stupid that I felt it had to be shared.
NOTE: If this turns into Thoughts on Abortion, I'll have to cut a bitch. Thoughts on Slutty Congressional Daughters, on the other hand, are ok. Slutty Congressional Daughters would be a great name for a rock band.
