12:51p - Teachers are supposed to be held to a higher standard!
WARNING: serious teal deer ahead. the people involved like to get wordy, it seems. Get yourself a cup of tea before you start reading this. Or maybe not, as you might do a few spit takes.
So this lovely story has been developing over the last week or so. In Ohio there is a town called Springfield, and in that town is a school called South High School. One of the assistant principals for South, Karl Perkins, was recently suspended, and he could possibly be fired. Why? He wrote erotic poems under the pseudonym "Antonio Love." It's a pretty special story, but the reaction to it is even better. You see, the Springfield News-Sun website has a forum for each article, and anyone can respond to an article.
As a note, you have to be registered to get linked to specific post, but you can easily scroll down to read responses. The oldest responses are at the bottom. Also, it seems like older responses get deleted as newer ones are made, as some really wanky posts are gone by now. However, this is still pretty amazing.
( a few choice responses )
The big wank of this post, though, is started when a poster by the name of jesse posts this:
( how much do teachers make? )
There's a lot more there, but it's mostly people saying the same stuff as what I've already put here. Go ahead and read through it, though. It's hilarious.
But wait, the fun's not over! On Thursday, the students at South High School decided to protest in support of Mr. Perkins. Over 100 students walked out of their 2nd period classes and held signs and chanted. Then they ran the halls. Yeah, they're not so go at protests. However, this article also has some important information. The board, which was reviewing his files, "found no other records of misconduct." Also, this book had been published after he was hired by South High School.
Some very amusing wank is started over the issue of morality in school. This wank is started by john, who says, " Are you kidding me. This is not a popularity contest. This is not a racial issue. This is a moral issue. Mr. Perkins stepped all over the moral clause in his contract. He may have written this trash when he was in college but he published it in 2007, while he was an employee of Springfield City Schools. His job at South High is Discipline. How can teach morals when have none. Mrs. Harper, do the right thing and let Mr. Perkins go so he can pursue something else. He is a bad influence."
( And, of course, that sets people off. )
So, by the end of it all, it seems that everyone has forgotten the issue at hand and is busy trying to make a point about...well, I'm not quite sure. But whatever it is, it's still hilarious to watch. People are still making posts, too, so I'll update if the wank gets even funnier.
