Yes, games where EVERYONE HAS TO BE HAVING SEX OR THEY GET IGNORED are annoying. But if people wanna have games like that it's THEIR CHOICE. I hate the stereotyping of gays or any humans for that matter, but some people obviously don't give a shit. We can hate em and rant about em all we want, but we can't STOP them. What are these "We must stop people from playing bad gay sex games!" crusaders gonna do, go over to these people's houses and eat their keyboards or something? :P

Really. People just need to shut up with the crusades against everything already. u.u;;

Actually, I would argue that over-focusing on sex is the real problem here, not the fact that it's slash. I don't RP, but I would imagine that it would be annoying if you were trying to advance a plot of some sort, while everyone else just wanted to hook up. Maybe it's just because I'm one of those evil slash fans, but I don't see why two male characters fucking all the time would be worse than having a male and female character constantly going at it.

And any gay man who gets super offended by the existence of slash should try being a lesbian for a week. He'd probably spontaneously combust after the first Girls Gone Wild commercial.

He/she just had to mention the 'gay friend' and not only that, but go into details about how close they are. I'm pretty sure there's a way to talk about bad slash/yaoi without sounding homophobic, *if you don't hate all of it*. I've seen plenty of good discussions about such.

Yeah, most slash sucks. So does most het. I think the post is really poorly worded and comes off anti-slash instead of anti-bad slash, whether or not that's what the OP meant.

Hi, I'm Adora, and I'm offended by 99% of the porn out there because of the stereotyping of females, bad camera angles, shocking lighting, tacky soundtracks, and lack of plot or acting skills. It offends me a lot, even though it obviously isn't made to be taken seriously, nor is it made with a target audience such as myself in mind. But none of that matters, because I'm using these excuses to cover for my own heterosexist prejudices which really are just 'I'm offended by the lesbians in it'.

I am always quite amazed that people say "If I were a writer and some little teeny wrote non-canon slash about my characters, I'd be disgusted! It's like they totally ruined my perfect and beautiful vision!"

I would, frankly, love to have a mad fandom at my beck and call. I would love people to speculate about my characters and write cheesey sex scenes, non-canon gay and any other sort of dribble. And flame-wars! I'd love them. In fact, I think I'd lurk at them. Maybe even post. The collective members of these communities would despair of all my fans. It'd be great.

I mean to say, wouldn't these people want people to be fascinated enough with their characters, plots and universes that they feel it necessary to write fanfiction? Don't people want people to be inspired by anything they write? Even if they're only inspired to have a crap flamewar about how X ought to be shagging Z instead of Y, which is what the plebes think, because they're too stupid to read between the lines blah blah...at least they give a shit.

I wonder if this guy would get half as frothy if people hetted two characters from his theoretically published stuff? I'ma thinkin' no, but that's just a hunch.

(Actually, I'm tempted to check out his stuff just to see if it has a chance at getting published. His icon makes it look so corny. Is "Unicorn" supposed to be a man or a woman?)

Also, why can't these ever-so-horribly-offended-gay/bi men just develop a damn sense of humour? I am almost constantly offended by the way I see women portrayed in the media, but instead of blowing an artery over it I just mock.

Heck, in my current writing project, I actually had to pause in a scene betwene two characters to think "Yes, I know the protagonist's straight and the other's asexual. But the way I'm writing this scene, if I ever get this published and get a fan following, there is sooo going to be slash between these two. And probably anti-pairing wank, because the protagonist really doesn't like the other guy." It made me laugh.

The only things I'd be disgusted at people writing about my stuff if it ever got published are child rape, bestiality, snuff, gore, and stuff I don't wanna see ANYWHERE. :P

Or if the fan's disclaimer said "I know such and such better than the author does, the author favors the heroine so she fucked over J Random Studboy even though she gave him a nice personality". :P

Wanks like this make me laugh for one specific reason: The Gay Porn Book. It's a book I bought for sheer amusement at the local used bookstore. It cost me one dollar, Canadian. It is a physical impossibility to open the book and NOT find a sex scene, with horrid description (I'd post an example, but I've misplaced it). The main character sleeps with every male he meets. The "plot" ends with two characters going, essentially, "I love you, but alas! For we are both bottoms, even though you have a foot-long-penis-of-doom, and therefore we can never be together! Oh, wait, let's let them fuck us and kiss some." It's hilarious.

...and it was written by a gay man. e_e; If dude's going to rant about OMG GIRLS RUIN GAY I suggest he read it. Even horribly girlified men and physical impossibilities are better than that thing.
