Will and Jada Pinkett Smith confirm the rumors: they have an open relationship.

The folks at ohnotheydidnt have a lot to say about it -- but not as much as the gang at blackfolks.

I have a short attention span, so I’ll only point out one example thread.

Jesus McChristburger with a side of fries, [info]yobachi2003 scares me. Everyone else seems to be pretty happy, while s/he's all 'HE HAS LOST MY RESPECT!!!111'. So... the only thing he/she/it respected about Will Smith was the fact that he was in a monogamous marriage?

Ack. I meant he's no longer in a monogamous relationship/marriage. Bah, all of this history studying is affecting my brain so I can't recognize anything that doesn't include the words Henry, Charles, Edward, or Pope in it.

Since so many actors wind up having extramarital affairs anyway, I think it's quite admirable that this pair have seen fit to recognise and discuss the possibility of this happening, and ways around it.

As for the reactions, my advice is to not hang so much in the way of expectations on celebrities, because most of them are even more flawed and unpleasant in whatever way than your average person. At least these two aren't really crazy.

It seems as if people want the privileges of married life, but don't wanna give up the benefits of being single. They're playing it both ways.

Yes how dare two grown, capable, adults make decisions about their relationship that I don't approve of! They should suffer the 'consquences' for being married like everyone else. Because marriage shouldn't be about loving someone but holding your relationship to a strict set of rules that might not work for either of you.

The whole purpose of the union is to create a two person cipher, be each others other half, compliment each other, and become one.

I think my parents could have made good use of such a policy. My mother is bi and apparently needed her women sometimes. It broke my dad's heart to be cheated on and it all came crashing down. Shesh.

It's great that somebody comes out and says it for once. Sounds way better than those who lie about it. I hope they'll be able to stay together for several years.
