There's a reason I'm not a member of childfree
redinkwriter posts to childfree about how she might want to adopt from China someday. A small debate occurs in the comments about how redinkwriter is not childfree, and thus should take her heathen self far hence.

Then, a couple of posts up, blacktigr flips her shit over certain members of the community *coughredinkwritercough* not being childfree enough for her. Notably, she repeatedly selectively quotes the community info, leaving off the part about "those who support the childfree lifestyle" being welcome as well.

Get it while it lasts; this one's probably getting deleted or locked soon.

ETA: redinkwriter's post and journal are deleted. She clearly could not stand the mighty whining wrath of the childfree.

Am I the only one who thinks "eco-friendly" and "children" shouldn't be in the same sentence together? It sounds like... free-range organic baby farming!

Heh. It's from Superboy #85, wherein Kon snarks while beating up some holographic version of the Justice Leauge (he's kicking Wonder Woman in the teeth). What he doesn't know is that HIS MOMMY IS LEX LUTHOR there's more to his "birth" than LEX the world needing a clone of Superman.

But he's still a test tube baby, and I relate wub him. :)

And here I thought one of the original tenats of the childfree philosophy was "6 billion people is enough, damnit!", so that adoption was still good.

Stupid websites, leading me astray.

So, uh, where does that leave us poor people who think 6 billion people is enough and still want kids? Do we get a special name?

It depends on the person. Some childfree don't really care about population. They just really dislike children and don't want to hear anything about them. So for some it's a political/economic/environmental thing, for others it's just personal.

At least the majority of posters on that thread are telling blacktigr she's being a jerk. I like how she tells everyone exactly what HER stance on issues are, and then gets offended everyone else doesn't have exactly the same views. And implies they shouldn't be in the community if they don't. Feh.

That community is about 90% oversensitive freakouts like that one, and people whining about how dare parents let their children out of their rooms before they're 18. I identify as childfree, but I only ever go near the comm to see if they're wanking about something.

This is why I, despite never wanting to have or adopt kids, don't identify as childfree. I completely support others having/adopting kids. And I love kids. I do. It's just not for me.

I'd be a terrible parent!

Me: I love you!
Kid: I love you too, Mommy!
Me: Haha, I was just kidding!

Kid: Can I go get drunk with my friends pass out in the gutter?
Me: Of course, darling.

Kid: Can I become a porn star?
Me: Yes, but I get a cut of the profit.

Word to that.

Me: [hands kid unmarked tape] Here, go watch Disney.
Kid: Mommy, what are you doing in there?! You're nakie!
Me: Oh...shit! That's not Disney! COVER YOUR EYES!

Kid: Mom, can I use drugs?
Me: As long as you buy your own.

This actually came up at a party once. Values to raise my kids by.

1) Don't lie--except for fake IDs and calling in sick to work. And if I become silly and overprotective, I can't exactly blame you for not telling me if you, oh, go to a con in New Jersey without money for a hotel room and end up crashing with random strange guys...for instance.

2) Don't steal. Oh, sure, you can download MP3s and surf the Web at work, whatever. Don't shoplift, though, because that's the province of tacky teenage girls who cultivate eating disorders, and my offspring should have more class.

3) Take care of yourself. I realize this one's a gradual process, but if you show signs of becoming Cat Piss Man or Girl Who Constantly Needs a Boyfriend, I will disown you, change my last name, and get a restraining order.

4) Master proper grammar and spelling by the time you're fifteen, or I'll abandon you in the nearest wolf-infested forest.

teensy tiny wank letting
[info]annabelle_lee

This doesn't offend me, but it's annoying that every word about a kid in there is offensive. I know I won't ever have children of my own, but I also don't go around calling a kid a 'brat, sprog, or crotch-dropping' unless they've done something to deserve the title.

I mean, if you do say those words all the time to all the children you meet, you forget that a kid is a human just like you and can learn/change for the better. People need to get over some of the hypocritical hatred of kids; the world would be a hell of a better place without it.

(and I tend to philosophize when I lack sleep. Forgive me.)

I kinda like the word "sprog." But only because it sounds cool. It rhymes with "frog!"

Then again, I call most of the small children I know "monsters" on a regular basis. They think it's funny.

Yes, but if the kid wasn't being bratty, why would there be any need to post about it (more about that in a sec). The good kids aren't bothering anybody. I'll admit that I don't like the more crude "crotchdropping" sort of names, but I'll use "brats" or "little monsters" as the situation warrants. If a kid is being a brat, then they are just plain being a brat.

But then there are the occasional posts about the parents who are doing in right, when you see an actual well-behaved kid. Or the rare kid who is well-behaved in spite of the parents.

If anyone's still following. The mods clarify things, and MOST everyone is relieved.

But then you've got the same old whiners. Although it's not that whiny until further down that thread.

There are days that the only reason that I'm still in that comm is to spite the people who've told me I don't belong there.
