I wouldnt come on here posting patches worn by the SS claiming that its ok because theyre vintage or antique.

i would. besides, they're not made out of real jews, so it's a bit different.

Does it make me a bad person if I laughed at that?

Only if it makes me one too.

Mind you, I spent Friday hanging around an Antiques/Armoury cooing over Third Reich calvary sabres, so I suspect I'm already firmly lodged in that camp.

There, there. A long while back, before my favorite antique store lost its lease to Walmart (fuckers), I'd seen a trio of Hitler Youth daggers.

However, I was more enamored with the M*A*S*H martini kit (which apparently was just an IV bag and a tube).

I had a European History teacher in high school who had actually been in Hitler Youth as a kid. He said it was like the Boy Scouts, but with more propaganda. He never got to meet Hitler, but he said that doing so was the Nazi Germany equivalent of a meeting with the Pope.

I live to serve.

I'm totally going to make my future husband dress up in an SS-style uniform. It's a shame that evil tends to have the most stylish uniforms.

Probably, but I couldn't help giggle too, so you're in good (or is it bad?) company.

Oh god, my Grandfather is just spinning in his grave right now.

pointlessly skinned for human vanity.

'Cause, y'know, back in the day they had polar fleece and gore-tex and high-tech fabrics to keep people warm, so fur was TOTALLY pointless.

Also, the part where she said that it was the natural order for people to eat animals, but using their skins was horrible? *boggle* So now we're not supposed to use as much of an animal as possible?

*hugs her rabbitskin coat made out of bunnies her grandpa shot for food, then had made into a coat for grandma*

Dude, totally. What the hell does she think people before the twentieth century in cold climates used? And of course it's fine to *eat* the animal, but it's OMG MEEEN to not let the rest of it go to waste. The logic, it is not strong with this one.

Reminds me of the argument I had with my mother because she wanted to pay a good deal of money to have my grandmother's antique furs cut up and made into teddy bears. She was under the impression that this was more pc, as if being completely worthless but adorable would some how resurrect the spirits of minks past in teddy bear form.

Please tell me she didn't have her way.

I'm not sure. No one else in the family is too fond of the idea. So I think my father might have them discretely sent to me when we move again, if he can hide them.

Mink, well known for their cuddly and friendly natures and not at all for being vicious little killing machines prone to ripping the faces off of bunny-wunnies.

The only time fur has ever really bothered me was when I discovered the coat I was petting at work was made of chinchilla.

That and sticking my hand up the mink skin's arse, but I was kinda out of it...
