I'd argue "tolerance" is a nasty word.

People aren't there for me to tolerate, as if they, their sexual preferences, their race, whatever, was at all dependent on my approval.

I tolerate things I loathe, but can't change. Tolerance is just distaste with an air of masturbatory self-sacrifice.

People can accept me, my race, my politics and my sexuality, or the can get the fuck away from me. It is though my tolerance that I do not kick their asses.

My, is that wanking? So sorry.

Eh, that's the point. A person's existence is not subject to approval or disapproval. Even if you (general) disagree with them (also general), you should learn to fucking deal as a rational being instead of deciding that they should cease said existence simply because you have a bug up your ass.

Not responding to things you don't like with whining and flailing of limbs is definitely a good thing, and something most people outgrow early in life.
