Christian mud-wrestling
[info]christianity has done it again! Hey, don't most of you folks believe that wanking is a bad thing?

KoRn guitarist Brian Welch "finds Christ and quits KoRn." Responses aren't too shabby at first, just the typical pro- and psuedo-pro judgements being thrown about. And then, some liberal folksies enter the room.
(dunh-dunh-dunh-DUNH)
Small, but good - particularly for those of us who just gave up ever trying to converse with these folks.

In response to [info]etruth's comment on "put[ting] him on TV specials," [info]golodhgwath (thread)snarks:
You must be crazy. We must parade him in front of every evangelical youth group in the country. So he can tell his story about how he was into drugs, sex, and evil music, and especially lots of sex -- but then found the Lord.

Otherwise, how can you expect the young generation to get the message that they have no valid testimony until they sin grievously? My church experience wouln't have been nearly confusing enough without putting every druggy f@$%#-up on a pedestal as examples of all that is cool and right.

;-)

[info]chrissie won't stand for this!: Oh c'mon.
[info]golodhgwath: I think he got my joke.
[info]chrissie: I did too, but it wasn't funny. :P
[info]golodhgwath: It was hilarious. I've been laughing about it for years.

[info]evil_genius hazards: I'm not really sure why being in a band like Korn is so completely incompatible with being a Christian. Further more I don't understand why all of you think this man just turning his back on his first great love "music" is such a positive thing. If anything I pity him for the incredibly painful and confusing path he has chosen. (thread)
There's some bantering in response, but it seems as though [info]chrissie can't stand for much at all since she jumps in again.
[info]chrissie: I wonder why you bother to reply to discussions in communities when most of your replies are "I'm not going to talk about this anymore."
A valid point! But [info]evil_genius is valid-er: It's clear from previous discussion your view of the creator and mine vary drastically. I am personally content to maintain my own views and allow you to do the same.
[info]chrissie: teh_GASP! [sic]

Which leads us to the gold --
[info]heyunyi: Nice of him to not force you to adopt his view, huh?
[info]chrissie: It's a right charitable of him, since from what I've seen I'd have to fight tooth and nail before I let him take Christ from me.
Honey, somehow I don't think he was planning on it.

Seeds are being scattered. It's up to us to make sure they reach fertile soil.

Speaking of fertilizer...

Not so conceited, when you consider that we're made in the image of God.

I had no idea God wanked. Praise be!

Didn't you know? It's the lost verse of the creation story!:

Genesis ##:## - And G-D wanked, and saw that it was funny; and humor came into light.

Rough translation.

Whoops, forgot the second bit:

Genesis ##+1:##+1 - And the spooge got in someone's eye, and woe: they could not see the funny.

Bleh. That would be why I don't join any Christian communities online. My brethren are all wanky bastards.

My take on the whole issue is that whatever Brian Welch wants to do, it's between him and God. It's none of my business.

I joined in hopes of sharing and discussing my personal belies, which is frankly what the community info claims, but I got hella tired of being told I was going to hell, in more or less words.

And can I hear an Amen!, sista?

You're behind the times. You don't have to go to hell...nowadays, hell delivers. You can suffer eternal torment without ever having to shave or change out of your raggedy bathrobe. Perfect for the sinful homebody.

It's a right charitable of him, since from what I've seen I'd have to fight tooth and nail before I let him take Christ from me.

Is that like on Jerry Springer, where the two frothing women totally throw down over the sketchy longhaired guy who's been boinking both of them?

My guess (and it's only a guess) is that he brought it up with them that he wanted to follow Christ, but had no real intentions of leaving the band. They probably tried to convince him to keep it a secret unless it damaged the band's reputation, but he wasn't really up for that. So due to increased tension in the band, he either left or was fired.

...

In other news, Evil Genius is rather amusing, if just for the zombie icon. Go little zombie! Go!

And they day they stop refering to an infinite being as "Him" is the day I convert... fuckwits...

[*insert long, sad story of the condimination of Christianity by KoRn*]

Man. Persecution complex much, guys? Because, yes, most bands will just throw you out if you come up to them and go "Hey, guys! I found Jesus!" Then, in true Chick Tract fashion, the little demons on their shoulders will scream and roll around while covering their ears. They hiss alot, too.

Somehow... I don't think so.

I guess I was too amusing as I only lasted about another week in that group.

From the groups info page:

"There are no creedal or theological factors in obtaining membership. You can be an atheist, an Anglican, or what have you, and be able to post here."

Sure you can be an atheist. As long as you come in sit down and shut the fuck up. If you are anything but a bible thumping Christians storm trooper, your ass is banned.

Oh well it was fun while it lasted. I knew the Terri Schiavo thing was going to be my undoing.

My icon zombie Ate lil' brudder and tenderfoot's brains.

I weep for KoRn. ;__;

I'd have to fight tooth and nail before I let him take Christ from me.

...Do you write Jesus!Sues? Please dun tell me you write Jesus!Sues...

And every Christian wank reminds me of either St. Paul or MArtin Luther and his 95 Theses. >3
