It's mostly a two person wank that peters out at the end, but it was mildly amusing.

Has the USA Ever Invaded Another Country?

Kanadees isn't talking about Afghanistan, Iraq or the two World Wars.

It starts innocently enough; someone mentions payment & help under the table to topple dictators that the US government doesn't like, and someone mentions the Indians (i.e. Native Americans).

Then, Dallas Dude 2 comes in with an assload of bizarre, twited history that seems to have been made up in his own head. I sincerely hope he was joking in an attempt to troll and/or provoke a reaction. It's not all entirely false in some cases, but still rather skewed.

Dallas Dude 2's first post:
"The US was founded officially when Christopher Columbus (who never actually visited the mainland US) wound up in the West Indies and killed thousands of natives.

After that, it was the other settlers who killed hundreds of thousands of native Americans.

We then killed millions of slaves to colonize and develop the nation, and since that time, we have sanctioned and condoned the regimes that have been responsible for millions of other deaths.

If you think for one minute that this country is altruistic, then you are wrong. We never have been that. To think that we have been, or that we are now, or even that we ever will be, you would be extremely naive.

Maybe that's the problem."


So...it was Columbus who founded the US?
...and the West Indies are the US?
'kay then.

Well, bobg00 decides to be witty and replies with, "Time to go back and revisit your third grade history book, dude...."



ralounews.com insists that history books are a pack of lies and that Dallas Dude 2 is correct, then makes a snide comment about DD2 supporting murder and brutality. Stretch of logic, but okay...

DD2 takes OFFENSE to this and gives a terse reply of:
"What? How dare you put thoughts into my head, or words into my mouth.

What I said about the killing of innocents in our history, mostly for gold or land alone, is correct, and it was wrong. There are pages of those examples in history by people and countries. The US is not immune to this kind of thing, is all I'm saying, despite the history books.

Iraq is an entirely different situation. I'm not naive enough to think that it is entirely altruistic, however.

But for you to attribute to me that I'm not bothered a bit by it, or that I happily support it, is completely irresponsible and shameful of you. But then, you're used to being both of those here aren't you, when it comes to talking about anybody who doesn't agree with your own myopic view?"

Confused yet?

ralounews.com and DD2 apparently don't get along. I must not be aware of their seemingly long-standing CourtTV message board rivalry.

ralounews.com replies with, "How convenient, you're against these things in all historical instances, but it's fine right now, because well...it's different from all those other times! An entirely different situation!

Nope, sorry. Not holding water.


If it bothers you, don't support it. If it's fine with you, then just admit it. But don't act consistantly callous, until you get called on it, and then put up a front of injured innocence and compassion."

A reasonable request.

DD2 is having none of it, however.
He posts a classic, "OMG! U don't agree with me! STFU and just ignore my posts bcs u suck!" type answer.
"Keep your head buried in the sand. It is where it belongs. You don't know the difference between the genocide that happened with Columbus, Cortez and Pizarro, and the others, exploiting the natives for gold, and killing millions, or during the American colonization, where we slaughtered hundreds of thousands of native Americans with no regard for anything except land and resources, and the slave-trading which also killed millions....

....and what is happening in Iraq.

You will never bother to learn, and to you, everything is black and white. To you, Bush is evil, and no matter what happens in Iraq, that will also be genocide to you.

At THIS point Catus, who is another senior member, steps in:
"While it is true that the US is not committing "genocide" in Iraq, it is true that the US administration is there to obtain control of their petroleum, which is necessary for the world domination it desires, and it's also true that the US administration is willing to accept the loss of 100,000+ Iraqi lives, and 1000+ American lives, as the necessary cost to achieve its objectives.

If this is not correct, then please inform us why the US is in Iraq."

ralounews.com answers with something completely irrelvant: Another attack on DD2!
"DD used a strawman on me. He decided to argue as though I only disapprove of mass genocide and do not consider the other horrible crimes throughout history and today. He then offered me a fallacious either or statement: I must be black and white in my thinking and hate Bush no matter what, or I must accept what is happening to people under US foreign policy. There was no room left for complex thinking, the ability to not hate Bush and still hate our foreign policy, and the ability to see good things happen due to our policy and yet to see it overall as the cause of more wrong than right.

Nice try."

ANNNND once more DD2 can't resist a personal jab: "See what I mean? You even confuse yourself.

OMG, it must be a nightmare to be in your head! :O "

ralounews.com is now taking his bat and ball and going home: "Ooops. There you go, making personal attacks again. I won't be looking at or responding to anything else you write."

This makes DD2 happy, and the mini-two-person-wank stops with this post:
