Bras are bad... mmm..kay?
Out of boredom I re-enabled the little random underliner function enabled on Trillian (which people who have Word on their computers tells me looks like Spellcheck is in action). I clicked on the Wikipedia entry for "bra" when that came up in an IM. One of the outside links was to this site by a physician who urges wimmens to ditch their bras and let their titties breathe lest they endanger their health and cause saggage.

Welcome to www.BraFree.org, where we celebrate healthy breasts

This web site isn't about women's liberation. It's about liberating women.

We're not anti-bra. We're pro-breast.

We believe healthy breasts can support themselves, free of wires and hardware.

We believe there are no known health benefits from wearing bras—but there are disturbing parallels between wearing bras and the incidence of fibrocystic disease and breast cancer.

(looks at boobs... they're pointing and laughing)

I'd be more likely to believe this whole "natural is better" theory on things if the picture of the doctor advocating it didn't look as though the woman has gone through cosmetic surgery as many times as Cher.

Yeah. Until I hit the DDR machine and go bouncing all over the place.

I'll take comfort, thanks.

Breasts like to move.

if your breasts complain about being slammed up and down

aggressive nipples

Your breasts are trying to tell you that they are unhappy in the bra you’ve worn all day.

This anthropomorphism of the breasts is creeping me out. What if mine get really mad about the cotton prison I inflict on them, and try to smother me in my sleep? They're pretty big, too.

Bottom line: Women evolved bra free. They ran. Bra free, They exercised. Bra free. They climbed trees. Bra free. Chased things. Bra free. Bounced up and down. Bra free.

I think, bra free. This is like beat poetry. Bra free. I can just see some woman with a black beret and prominent nipples, bra free, pounding this out on her bongo drums. Bra free. Bra free. Can you dig it?

I dunno, my breasts feel okay. I've been wearing a bra for 15 years, is there some sort of timeline for this imminent disaster I should expect? Like, after thirty years of bra on-set, they begin to drift apart like polar magnets until I look like a cartoon character who's just run into a closed door?

There's a sort of logic there. Technically, I suppose one might argue that the pectoral muscels should act as a sort of natural bra, if they were properly excercised and held the weight, which is what the Doc seems to be saying.

Personally, speaking as a straight male, I like the shape a bra provides and they're fun to take off. *Clears throat*

Anyone insistent that bras don't prevent saggage... is an idiot.

I wear my bras day and night, for the wellbeing of the eyes of those around me. We're talking halfway to my navel here. And I'm only in my early 20's.

For some reason I doubt our ancestors were running around bra free with large breasts. Barring genetic and hormonal oddities, don't women need certain nutrition during puberty to develope fully?

I'm in dire need for a "stop being on my side" icon now.
I hate bras. HATE, HATE, HATE those fuckers with the force of a middle sized sun at least and don't wear them 99% of the time. But then, I'm only borderline CUP C (that's another issue: B is to small C is to big *grr*) and can live without. I don't know if it's more healthy, but it sure as hell doesn't stop even my rather round and apple shaped boobies to slowly wander downwards. More is the pity. :|
