Mocking the Mockers
jenniferjayde posts a short, amusing anecdote to Mock The Stupid about a coworker asking if Cinco de Mayo was May 8th ((Cinco de Mayo is Spanish for Fifth of May)). It's rejected, and the rejecting mod gives the reason of "I don't get it."

Undeterred, she resubmits it, including the Mod's reply, and this time it's accepted. She says, "Let's see if they're modest enough to be able to mock themselves."

Mod Opalcat is offended deeply, OMG.

At 156 comments at last check. :D

Edit: For clarification, OP and coworker live in Phoenix, AZ, giving said coworker NO EXCUSE not to know what Cinco de Mayo is.

I have a song for Opalcat.

~*You're soooo vaaaaaain....you probably think this wank is abouuuut you*~

Seriously, for someone who comments about how many mods work on that community, you'd think she could get off her high horse and think that maybe, just maybe, the OP wasn't talking about *HER*.

I know! Especially since the OP referred to the mods as "THEY". As in plural.

THANK you. I was thinking that myself. The OP never named anyone, but she's getting all ruffled about people 'attacking' her. Wah?

Looks to me like she meant to be sneaky-snarky in reference to the rather more specific email sent (she's definitely the only *creator* of the community), and kinda failed. *shrugs* :3

She always like this. Always. Personally, I don't know why she even bothers.
HELLOW PEOPLE, WELCOME TO MY COMMUNITY WHICH I DO NOTHING IN. BTW, I'M GOD, PLZKTHNX

I just don't read anything related to her anymore. Yeesh.

I love how jenniferjayde starts the whole bloody thing, goes back and forth with opalcat, then starts shrieking at people to "omg let it GOOO!11!!"

How does that work, again?

I can't believe that jenniferjayde is older than I am . . .

<---jenniferjayde

Because at first, I was amused by it, and now it's out of hand and annoying, so people should let it go.

Any other questions?

Newsflash for the uninitiated: I personally moderate less than 1% of the submissions to this community. I am way too busy and don't even read the community more than maybe 15 minutes per week, let alone moderate new submissions.

Um.. gee. I stepped down as a mod at the Poteidaia Scroll because I felt I wasn't spending enough time there after awhile and I think I skimmed things about 15 minutes every three-four days at least?

Am I the only one who thinks the quality of moderation there is pretty poor overall? It seems like they moderate by picking things at random rather than paying some attention to quality.
And opalcat seems to throw rather frequent hissyfits.

MTS mods use a ouija board to approve posts, I swear. And yes, opalcat is tetchy.

MTS throws into sharp relief that there are a lot of people with big rock collections who live in glass houses. I learned from MTS that there are 52 US states, that Catholics aren't Christians, and that NO ONE ON GODDAMN LJ KNOWS A GODDAMN THING ABOUT EVOLUTIONARY BIOLOGY.

Hello! I'm the OP of this wank, and even though I'm not a member of journalfen, I have to say...can you guys BELIEVE the chaos this is creating over there??? My God, it's just a post. Read it, don't read, who cares? Move on! But yes, it's well over 150 comments and still going. I was laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes.

I've been told that some mods there have rejected posts for "tl;dr" reasons. Uhm. Yes, it needn't be excessively long to get to the point, but damn, sometimes I want an involved story on stupidity.

I grew up in California, and can't even fathom not knowing what Cinco de Mayo is, or not at least being able to extrapolate what the words mean. Sweet Jebus on a rubber pinata.

Honestly, it's unreal how bent out of shape you guys are getting, and how bent out of shape you seem to think I am. Honestly? I really don't care. Not about this, and not about any of you. In fact, I think I may just start managing this community to suit my own feelings instead of trying to be diplomatic and take all of you guys' opinions and feelings into account.

Did opalcat just break up with her community?

Then again, I also know when the War of 1812 occurred.

And even if you're from somewhere where Cinco de Mayo isn't well known, what prevents you from LOOKING IT UP? For Christ sake, people, you're on the INTERNET. Google is your friend!

And as an American who knows what Guy Fawkes Day is and the history behind it, I'm offended that bwinter is lumping me in with idiotic Harry Potter fen.
