Godwin comes to Boston
More [info]b0st0n wank, this time about the neo-Nazis that are coming to town.

The city of Boston is having a Holocaust Memorial Day ceremony this coming Sunday. Apparently a neo-Nazi group has announced that they will be protesting during the ceremony. [info]windwriter relates these facts, and passes on an email forward about a meeting for anti-Nazi protesters (protestors protesting the protestors).

Per usual for protest literature, there's a paragraph decrying the evils of the right:

Why do we have to oppose them? The right wing has become confident in recent months, and this in turn has emboldened the far-right. The evidence? The "Minutemen" were allowed to roam the Arizona borderland unopposed in their vigilante and racist hunt of Latinos suspected of being undocumented immigrants last month, leading to several episodes of human rights violations. In Boston, violence against gays and lesbians was up 30% last year. History has shown that if fascists are unopposed, they can gain a foothold and recruit others to their views. This in turn allows the "official" right wing to push forward their agenda (think: Death Penalty in Massachusetts, an end to gay marriage, etc.) and makes far right fascist politics even more accessible. We can stop this cycle by coming out in large numbers to demonstrate to the NAZIs that they are not welcome in our city and that they will not recruit a base of support here! This is exactly what was done by hundreds of activists when the NAZIs last came to town in 1994. They were run out of town and haven't been back for eleven years. We have to show them that they are still unwelcome in Boston!

[info]badlydrawnjeff is the token conservative to speak up against this paragraph. Now you'd expect wank, right? Surprisingly, not really. windwriter agrees that it's overblown. [info]postvixen disagrees, but the debate is fairly civil and reasoned.

When [info]slickgothgurl says that the nazis are allowed to be assholes too, however, [info]oh_snap does not agree. While they snark at each other, [info]jewelweed provides a short lesson in rhetoric. All three of them continue the argument here.

Meanwhile, [info]sexyblueduck starts with windwriter, but it is nipped in the bud.

Also momentarily features health reasons for screaming and a movement to put babies on spikes.

Oh, yeah, and some sample Nazis.
