	I think the whole issue with her was sort of a "Who Shot First" scenario. 	I think that her original definition involved using the example of entering a URL of an image to upload an icon to LJ. She edited it after someone pointed out that this wasn't really hotlinking. But I'm not sure what her original wording was, so I'm only gathering this from what was said in the comments. (Reply to this)(Parent)

	As greypearl says, her original post was different - she's edited it. I can't remember the exact wording of it, but it was more like "Bandwidth Theft Bad! Not that I know why! Ah, that makes sense.

The trouble with the "upload from URL" option is that, to the uninitiated, it looks exactly like the "enter URL of remotely hosted image" option that most message boards have, where doing that IS hotlinking. LJ just automatically transloads the image onto its own server -- but it doesn't explicitly say that on the upload page, so it's easy to assume that it is hotlinking.
