DevArt's Daily Deviation program supports art theft?
Most of you might already know about this, and at first i was going to put this in [info]fandom_wank, but eh.
Iau gets a daily Deviation today.
People bitch that he took the image directly from an anatomy book called Brune Hogarth's Dynamic Figure Drawing book.

Feeling the need to provide proof, ConeMonster scans the page, from the aforementioned book, and posts it on Deviantart, asking people to unfavorite Iau's drawing. Not big, but Christ on a stick, I can feel it begin to get ugly.

EDIT: *Facepalm* I'm an idiot. This time, I actually linked to the wank. Dumbass me.

EDIT 2: People are 'discussing' the immature mod.

WFT?! It looks like a cyclops/insect hybrid having it's beard stroked by a girl.

I'm... not seeing any of that. At all. Am I missing a link that says "Wank here" or something?

Here's the actual deviation in question. Scroll down to see some minor comment wank, although nothing hugely tremendous so far.

Although given dA's current stance that it's a-okay to post traced art without giving any sort of attribution at all--because 'tracing is a fundamental part of learning'--and that a lot of people are infuriated by this attitude since it allows copy/trace artists to flourish, well, yeah, I could see this growing.

Should I put in in [info]clairvoyantwank instead, and delete this one?

No, I'm not saying metaphorically I didn't see it, literally I didn't see it. I see you've linked now, though.

It might be a better wank if the bitchy comments weren't in Portugese or something, though.

Okay, never mind that too. I found the other comments.

I think I need to give up on wank and go to bed.

Copied or not (and it certainly seems that way), that is one ass-ugly picture. I don't know anyone who has muscles like that.

It's supposed to be showing the major contours of what's under the skin. It's not as apparent when the dude's only sketched half of it, but it's realistic in that sense.

Whaddya wanna bet they're not going to touch it based on that and the fact that he changed it from soft focus/blended to high contrast/mixed to highlight said focus on the ass? It's a good pic with what he did to the tones, but I'd call it a scrap. It's not even half his work.

I just love how alchemism is responding to every single comment that's explaining why this is against the rules, with "Ooops! I did it again." Very mature.

Ahh, you beat me to it. *shakes fist* There's actually some interesting wank all over this baby on the art_theft comm on LJ, but it's all flocked and shit. Damn.

Christ. If I were that artist I'd be so fucking pissed off at that twatheaded excuse for an admin. A shitpile of nasty comments, just the thing to wake up to.

Aaaand the same guy has DD-ed another one of that guy's works. Complete with snotty comment.

Funny how this looks less like "OK, I screwed up, here's a fix" and more like "Look! I can wank down the sidebar!"

That's a great use of power. "Don't you dare tell me I've made a mistake, or I'll just do it again, bigger this time, and wank about it too!" A mod would get booted off Elfwood permanently for that. /wank

Bah, DeviantArt is a batshit insane ball of spooge. People need to just use it as a handy place to post their art and link to in LJ communities, since the mods have completely screwed over the community.
