Wow. This is a big one.

So City_Glitter's cat is badly burned by some asshole. She posts about it in her journal:

http://www.livejournal.com/users/city_glitter/844427.html

It turns out that her cat will live though the vet bills will be high. So apparently one of her friends, Manhattan, kindly suggested setting up a paypal for donations.

http://www.livejournal.com/users/manhattan/1140641.html

The Vet bills were said to be around $5,000 but within a few days, enough generous people contributed to cover the costs. (Note, I don't know how much of the $5k she needed but her post mentions that enough had been raised.)

But not everyone is buying the story. Foxfur makes a skeptical post:

http://www.livejournal.com/users/foxfur/116753.html

I'm sure we can imagine how that went over.

But it turns out Foxfur may have been right to suspect.

Today City_Glitter posts that her cat was never burned and it was all an experiment to restore her father's faith in humanity.

http://www.livejournal.com/users/city_glitter/847289.html

Needless to say, a lot of people are very unhappy.

[eta] She makes another post saying that she expected everyone to believe Foxfur.

To be honest, I expected everyone to go read that post and to believe her. All of her evidence is well-thought-out, well-researched, and makes perfect sense. Furthermore, it took a great deal of courage for her to report the wrong of something she considered a close friend had done. I didn't expect for anyone not to believe her, and certainly didn't expect anyone to rip into her, flame her, and make her life Hell about it.

The likes of this bitch have always been like that. Glad they're a minority and the world turns it's back on them in the end.

Oh well... youngest ones, live and learn.

I don't know if this thread was mentioned, but I'm laughing my head off here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/city_glitter/847289.html?thread=3467193#t3467193).

A horse owner mentions there's a limit to the vet bills she's willing to pay for some of her horses who aren't capable of reproduction. A poster reacts and says "Hitler had similar views of the world...". Argument follows.

- I spent more money!
- No, me!
- I spent a GAZILLION dollars on a newt!!11!! Eat that bitch! U R Hitler!

city_glitter's joule is kind of interesting.

And I am very very lucky that I didn't hear about this A) before it was revealed as a fraud and B) after payday. I definitely would have donated, even though I haven't a lot to spare.

Interesting.

If PayPal gets back to you on this, either way, I'd at least like to know.

And it's good to hear they didn't brush off your concerns.

Hey please let us know somewhere about the PayPal thing. D: I am seriously worried, a lot of people HAVEN'T been refunded and this is what I found on the PayPal website:

Why is my refund pending?

When your refund was sent, there were insufficient funds in your seller's PayPal account to cover the payment. Because of this, the refund was funded via an electronic funds transfer from their bank account. This refund will remain Pending until the bank account transfer has been completed.

I can't understand why anyone believes people on the internets. I need absolute proof. Hell, maybe I should make up a sad story to get people to give me money, God knows I need it.

She missed the vital step of returning all of the money in her little theorum and proof experiment game.

LJ user sunstorm1000 is so much of a fucking moron I can barely comprehend it. I may just be scraping along trying to get a BA in psychology now, but her conception of what a "experiment" entails hurts me to the very depths of my future-psychologist (hopefully!) soul.

http://www.livejournal.com/users/city_glitter/847289.html?thread=4214713#t4214713

In my opinion, the whole thing was stupid to consider doing, but not stupid in itself. I think the experiment was very interesting, and considering the outcome I can't help but commend you for it. The whole deal wasn't shameless, and you knew what you were getting into. That only shows an incredible level of maturity and courage. This will probably cause many long term effects, considering how it spread around like the plague, but the fact that you took upon yourself the results of your actions is a brave thing to do, something that most people can't do.

Clearly, neither the science not the smartness flowers muchly in this one's mind.

Ironic, that in supposedly restoring her father's faith in humanity she simultanerously destroyed the faith of all those involved.
