I know it's just because I'm a grammar bigot, but I can't help having a really bad reaction to "u guys" and "thru" on a serious subject.

The manga Death Note concerns a notebook, and if you write someone's name in it (observing a bunch of rules I won't go into), they die. The main character (in icon) gets his hands on it and sets out to make the world a Better Place by killing them what needs killin'. The press, not knowing who's responsible for the deaths of all these criminals, starts calling the killer "Kira," a phonetic version of the Japanese pronunciation of "killer."

neogrotesque on LJ. I started replying when everything was still going on and unfolding on the news, and had my entire lack of faith in the DN community confirmed.

I'm SO glad I've taken them all off my lists now. I couldn't take any more bad fanart, squealing L fans, and half-assed cosplay. Oh, and those endless OMGYAOI!!! fangirls who forgot about things such as an INTELLIGENT PLOT.

	Once, long ago in Internet time, there was actual content on that community. Discussion and speculation, the out-of-character fanart[] and badly-written pr0n was nothing more than a faint whisper, and there was no wank. Those days are gone now. sighs, wipes tear* [*] OK. My father remembers reading an AU comic book during the war where someone (Captain Marvel if I remember correctly) joined the other side. In the end it turned out to be a theoetical situation someone on the other side was viewing. (And I think the superhero turned against them anyway).

Of course if he still had the comic book who knows what it would be worth, but everybody says that.

Were it my own post, and something I had said insulted even one person I would have deleted/edited my post right away, at least three people, another to myself on AIM, insulted you don't try to out-weigh it with the people who didn't mind.

My fandom has died, it was dying for a few months and finally it just...stopped breathing, so now I'm going to try and find a shoe-box to burry it in :< Excuse me while I emo a bit for the death of my fandom over here...

dn_apples was created to provide a place for discussion away from the ubiquitous fanart, fic, and cosplay stuff. At the moment it's mostly being used for announcing releases of the raws and some text translations, and as such most active discussion concerns chapters that haven't been scanlated yet, but I've been poking at some people to try to get some discussion going on over there. I haven't started any myself because I am lame and can't actually think of anything to discuss. Maybe I should post links to the next manga analysis essay I do over there, if it ends up using Death Note. Hm.
