Your Kink is Sexist!
[info]geca makes a post to [info]feminist linking the site Taken in Hand that focuses on female submission in relationships, including articles entitled "The Gift of Rape". The initial response to the post is one of disgust and derision, until someone points out that the site is in actuality a BDSM site focusing on female submission, and that the concept of rape put forth by the site isn't really rape at all.

The original poster is accused of taking things out of context, and things seem to be going smoothly. Until [info]chessdev speaks up. The people who defend BDSM liken it to homosexuality, and those against it liken it to marital rape and domestic violence and they question whether any woman who is submissive in their relationships can be strong and independent, regardless if whether they choose too.

[info]endersvalentine asks whether BDSM relationships are psychologically healthy. And then things really hit the fan when [info]0xmahliax0 comments that the threads on the post don't make her really comfortable, because she practices BDSM and accuses feminism of being hypocritical. [info]endersvalentine tells her go cry a river and basically that nobody cares. From there it is a bunch of the same arguments, and brings the idea that BDSM is a type of self harm.

[info]karnythia, who staunchly defended the practice BDSM in the first thread, starts a new post in hopes of showing that one can reconcile BDSM with feminism, and [info]gangsta_ho_bag responds and says that even so, the ideas brought up in the other thread still make her uncomfortable. [info]karnythia asks why and the entire thread explodes.

Must...not...wank unleash Fist of Death...

Because there's nothing I like more than teenaged feminists telling me why having kinky sex is recreating the patriarchy.

I decided I couldn't read it anymore when one of the pro-BDSM folk told me that all women had rape fantasies. It's nice to see everyone making stupid generalizations though, it's sad when it's only one side.

I think it would be a good idea to think about where sadomasochisic desires come from, for one. That might clear up a lot of confusion on both sides.

Yep. Weird how no one has ever, ever, ever written anything about the psychology of s/m before. I'm sure the feminist comm will clear everything up!

Gah... the pretention, it burnssss us.

Oh for the love of Mary!

Sex is sex is sex. I don't claim to be the strongest woman around, or even stronger than the average woman I meet in the street. I have my issues and they're mine. They quite possibly have something to do with what I enjoy in the bedroom, but it doesn't make it any less of a CHOICE on my part.

I like being held down. Not by restraints, but by pure physical strength. NOES. I AM BUYING INTO THE PATRIARCHY. SAVE ME NOW. SAVE ME FROM MYSELF/MY ABUSIVE FUCKBUDDIES. *rolls eyes*

*shrug* If you're going to go back to basic evolutionary primal instinct, held down = partner is strong = fit = good partner for babies. Nothing strange about that.

I have a confession... I'm a submissive woman. So, clearly, I'm being raped all the time. It's not maybe that I'm an equal EMOTIONALLY in my relationships and only submissive in the bedroom. No, I'm a VICTIM. We're always VICTIMS!! WAHHHHHH!!! (and it's not like their aren't WOMEN who top men EVER... NO!!)

If these so-called feminists want equality, they should stop whining and do every fucking thing men have to do. If you want equality, don't demand better fucking treatment than men are afforded. If woman are equal, then STOP FUCKING VICTIMIZING YOURSELVES. ALL YOU DO IS GIVE MORE SUPPORT THAT WOMEN AREN'T EQUAL.

*headdesk* They sound like a bunch of stupid liberal arts students who latch onto any liberal cause they can find... ugh...

I'll add that not liking something does not make that thing bad and wrong.

Don't care for BSDM, fine and dandy, but do not start preaching and acting like people who do like it are idiots who obviously need someone else to make their choices for them.

If their vision of equality includes having to have all personal choices approved by The Council of the Sisterhood and taking freedom away, well, count me out.

I've always thought that by claiming that women are oppressed all the time and need all kinds of rules and regulations for behavior to protect us, it's actually kinda... well... a twisted male chauvinist viewpoint. As in, we aren't big enough to decide for ourselves what we want to do.

I'm usually a sub. Not always. But when I am, it's because I want to, and telling me I can't is oppression of THIS woman.

Oh, this argument. One side makes broad, ridiculous generalizations about another's sexual lifestyle, and the other implies that those who don't like what they do are either lying to themselves, or hopelessly boring.

Fleh.
