Stuff On My Cat is normally a pretty cute site, which brings us photos ranging from the classical artistry of tomato kitty, to the Hollywood glitz of Frodo kitty, to the romance of Urkel-lovin' kitty.

It's also pretty good at bringing lots of minor wank.

In the category of "creatures on my cat," there are several photos of, apparently, cats being crushed by babies. I can't link to individual comments. It's all pretty much "same shit, different day," anyway. Most of the wanks follow the same basic arc, with choice comments pulled from each:

Maybe that'll teach the kid to respect animals since the parents
obviously aren't.

Look, it's my cat and my son. And my son is extremely gentle with her.
She loves the attention. When she gets sick of him, she goes in the
basement where he can't get her. A lot of times she seeks him out
because she wants to play. She has never scratched or bit him.

He wasn't hurting her, she wasn't trying to get away.

"Papercut", I hope the next time you cross the street you get hit by a
bus and "a blood bath ensues", you ignorant, rude, piece of crap. We
"respect animals" just fine. Maybe you should learn to respect PEOPLE
and not be so rude.

Also, less explicably, people are outraged someone pretending to be outraged by a picture of a cat with a beer can on its head.

That website is fabulous.

Of course there's people out there who think putting clothing on pets is animal cruelty on par with beatings.

Going by some of the clothes I've seen people put on their pets, I'm gonna have to agree with the whole 'animal cruelty' thing. Some of them are just so darn tacky.

also...Beer can on kitty=OMG sooo cute!^_^

I don't think they're givng the cats enough credit. If a cat really didn't want a baby on top of it, it would bloody well make its opinion clear, instead of just sitting there. Some people really need to chill out.

I don't know about that. I have a cat who just tenses up and freezes when something happens to him that he doesn't like. He won't fight; he'll just lie there and be miserable, like he's too frightened to move.

I'm not worried about any of those cats, though.

I have to say that there were only so many times I could attempt to train my toddler by cautioning: "Be gentle with Greebo," "Don't grab Greebo's fur," "Don't pull Greebo's ears/tail/feet/entire body while he lies there in a big purring lump" before going, "Fuck it, Greebo. You're on your own."

Wow, there are cats that'll let a baby cuddle them like that? I guess my cat is just more hateful than is normal. Of course, he also snuggles with the guinea pig and tries to beat up the dog, so maybe he's just a little off in the head...

And that beer can picture is photographic genius. *loves*

Indeed; there are some cats who are, for all intents and purposes, rugs. And, in some cases, throw pillows.

Of course, he also snuggles with the guinea pig and tries to beat up the dog, so maybe he's just a little off in the head...

*snerk* Yes, but does he get chased around -- by a tortoise?

Hehe. There's a reason why cat groomers have special training (and cost more) at Petsmart's grooming salons. If a cat doesn't want to be held it can make it's holder's life a living hell, at least for the .2 seconds they've got a grip on the thing.

The people who were worried about the baby and cat have clearly never WATCHED what cats do around small children.

"Riley, stop that. If you poke the cat, she's going to swat you."

*Riley pokes the cat anyway*

*cat swats (no claws out)* *

Riley gets the point* :p

The tomato-bedizened cat is a thing of beauty.

One of my brother's cats was so mellow he'd likely let a baby lie on top of him. I often woke up to him sleeping under my head, I thought he'd be squished but he loved it. It looked like most of the baby's weight was off the cat and the cat could crawl away easily.

If anyone tried to put something on my 15 pound kitten, he'd snatch it up and wrestle with it.

This thread helped me overcome my fear of squishing my cats and I have now attempted to use them both as a pillow. The first one was sort of annoyed, but too lazy to move; the second bit my head, but I was smart enough to face away from his teeth.
