Bush's Beddy Bye
All Georgie Bush did was ask Nanny Rice if he could go take a wee wee now. So why did the internet go nuts?

Is anyone wanking that he used the question mark wrong?

It's just a shame to see this devolve into political wank.

Yeah, seriously! That's the only thing that seems (somewhat) noteworthy about this to me.

I wondered the same thing. A search for "bush bathroom note" yielded only one result, and it was something completely different. So no, I don't think so.

From Snopes:

We've left this as "undetermined" for now to allow for the possibility that the President was merely responding to or adding comments to a note written by someone else.

So perhaps Bush is the one who approves the bathroom breaks for all the others. There's a 1984 joke or something in there, but I have to go to class now.

The fact that he's apparently highlighted "I MAY NEED A BATH" makes me sporfle, but otherwise I'm fairly skeptical. Photographer standing three inches from Bush's left ear to get that shot? Not so much with the credibility.

I guess it's what I get for beiung a history major. If I were poli sci, I'd be able to identify all the world learders' thumbs. But as it is, I'm probably gonig to have to wait a couple of decades so that I can get into an ivory tower bitchfight about whose hand it might have been writing the note.

The photographer wasn't necessarily wicked close. You can do amazing things with a telephoto lens.

Why would a photographer be zooming in on random shit he's writing? 99% of the time it can't be anything very interesting, so it seems unlikely they'd so it.

You never know, you could accidentally happen upon him writing, "Have you gotten back with Satan's lawyers re: unholy contract signed in the blood of children?" I suppose if you're tired of taking general photographs of a bunch of politicians sitting around talking, you'd be looking for amusement wherever you could find it.

I heard the photographer deciphered the message by screwing around with the original image -- the photographers hadn't been todl to take pictures of his notes. But that could be a lie, like many I've heard.

I mean, I understand the habitual icon love threads, but jeeze.

To be fair, though, the other person brought up the whole icon=character thing, so it's almost a natural extension of that.

"The Cobra - Maureen Dowd"

Cobra? She's more of those little annoying garter snakes that get stuck in drains or something.

Now, Bob Novak, I can see with that nickname

(Though he already got 'Prince of Darkness')

Methinks it's because she wrote Bushworld and Dubya has gotten all huffy, like he normally does.

Man, I want to be in the President Press Corps and get my own Dubya nickname now. Although not really, because apparently the journalists covering him get headaches trying to talk to him. Some of them have called his dog Barney to them so Bush has to go chase it and they can ask him questions. Although that could be very fun.

I can also understand why he calls Karen Hughes "Hurricane Karen." From the stories I heard of her, I wouldn't want to mess with her either. She ranks with Ari Fleischer in the "evil genius" category.

I think it's just that people find it funny when someone like the President, who is so frequently presented in really formal circumstances, has to do the same things the hoi polloi do. It would be like catching the Queen of England asking around for a tampon (back when she'd have needed one).

The picture that's been making the rounds is a cropped photo of one that's a bit further back (though you can still read the one that's further back). Both showed up on Yahoo's AP picture slide of the event, (I know that's where I linked my copy from when I put itin my LJ), so I can't imagine who would not only photoshop it but then submit it to Reuters and the AP and have both organizations run with it and distribute it...I mean, it's kind of their reputations on the line.

Don't know if that's real or not, but why the big fuss about him needing to go? If it is real, then it was written during a press conference or other public event, and such are rather choreographed with Dubya. Leaving for two minutes to use the Men's would mean rearranging the scheudule of a speech, for example. Also, chances are he has the SS with him, and they probably need to know about any minor change of plans.
