OMG U PPL in pagan R so closmindid!
A very teeny like individual posts in pagan: This is me. What should I be called? A bit of hilarity ensues about "Your dad is a Fairy?" and "Harry Potter syndrome" as well as the offended party starting 2 type in netspeak.

Irishtwilight replies indignantly, slitting her wrists all the way:

"I asked a question and i get bashed and called crazy by people whom i was taught was open minded and would understand!"

The scary thing is is that IrishTwilight is not a teen. Now I fear for my own age group.

Warning: Irishtwinky's site has Vomit Cursor pop up windows, autostarting midis and jingly snow globe animated fairies.

My head, she hurts.
------
[Addendum: 11:48pm Central Daylight Time] After pleas by other community members to stop bashing the twinklebrain, she posts: "My doctor is Otherkin himself and thats why i'm not in the vast craziness of the mass media..."

I'm starting to wonder if Twinkly is sitting behind her keyboard laughing her ass off and everyone's had their leg pulled both with the site and all those postings.

(cues "Close Encounters" theme. Doo doo doo doo doooooo... )

Ah, the pagan community. Sometimes it actually manages to be intelligent, and then sometimes you get shit like this.

Fucking idiots.

Reminds me of a mini-wank in which I asked politely for a photo of someone's "non-human form."
Apparently it's entirely unreasonable to ask for any proof of someone's outrageous claim! *snerk* He got Offended with a capital O. Very convenient that circumstances conspire to make it so he can't produce any proof of his speshulness.

Speaking of speshulness, you should see this girl.

The worst has long since been pushed off her page, but here's a summary: she believes she's had at least a half-dozen forms, with fancy made up names for things like dragons and angels, and she believes her son has had non-human forms as well. Oh, and all of her forms have had wings. All of them. Even if they were a tiger or a whale or something.

Oh, delusions of non-humaness. My favorite! I remember the Catty Goths checking this one girl a few years ago who would go on about how she was a dragon, when she was getting her wings and when she was old enough and it was the "right time", she would take on dragon form.

I assumed it was some kind of RP or fiction or other character thing but apparently Ms. Dragon Girl believed this to be for real.

Eugh. Can't tell from a quick skim whether she thinks she's had "spirit forms" or actual real life non-human forms. Either way, she sounds a bit crackpotty.

Theory of reincarnation is one thing.
Memories of past lives in which one was a dragon or a winged tiger are another. *gags quietly in her little corner*
I may be a furry, but I'm not delusional.

Arrrgh! Site Fights Fairies!

...the inability to spell "fairy" correctly was something I noticed among a great deal of my fairy squad, excepting for the European ones (including the Finnish teen whose third language was English.)

Speaking of wank, TSF was one of the wankiest things I've been involved in on the net. It almost rivals the HP fandom.

I lost count of how many misspellings (sp) of "fairy" and "faerie" she used. Is "faery" accepted as a spelling? Hmm. I've seen it used as an adjective in Wylly Folk St. John's The Ghost Next Door: "... a faery child with a pixie face".

Dude, TSF. I was in that way, way back in the day. At one point I was a Fairy, a Spirit Leader (or whatever the heck they called them) and a team assistant. Not all at once, of course.

So if Twinklygirlbroad was 37 and married a 20 year old in 1999 according to her About Me page, and was with him for five years (we'll call that 1994), then it sounds like she was in violation for part of the time she was with him. I don't know what the age of consent was back then in North Carolina but as if this current time, it's 16. Maybe it was less than that before. (Granted I've had a big age difference younger boyfriend but he was over 21)

Some folks are mature enough at 15 to consent. Some folks at 37 are not mature enough to consent. The law wouldn't see it that way though in most cases.

She looks frighteningly a lot like this woman who was busted for molesting students (age of consent in IL is 17 but position of trust, more than three years age difference for the under 17 and the fact that at least one student was learning disabled were the nails in the coffin).

Ya know, as flakey as I may think IrishTwilight (good God, I almost typed in IrishTwinkie) is, I really think the Pagans community was really shitty to her. I mean, some of the posts were just downright nasty and uncalled for.

Having grown up in a very "Old World Irish" setting myself (if you wanna call it that), her ideas on "faeries" are way out there to me...what I grew up being told faeries were not the glittery, nicey, wee little people that helped everyone and spread goodness and light everywhere, like I se today...quite the opposite actually.

Still, I may have questioned her claims (I for one thing the whole "otherkin" deal is just - well - a bunch of hooey)...a lot actually, but while I can be a real bitch at times, I certainly wouldn't have been THIS nasty to her. I know I get annoyed when folks do an outright attack on my own religious beliefs.

Of course, I could also be taken in by someone who made all this up and is now laughing up their sleeves at the rest of us.

It that's the case...I'm impressed and bow to the master!

I've been getting serious with my posts in comments lately...day-am...must be PMS or something making me actually feel for these people.

Ya know, I was thinking that too, about the Fairy thing. It reads like a romance novel - fairy man falls in love with human woman and fathers her child, even though most fairies don't care for humans, to say the least.

The reason why "otherkin" are so annoying is that they use their beliefs to beat you over the head with how special they are. Irishtwilight was pretty blatant about it.

She also claimed that her special status had been proven to her through tests, and that's irresistible to anyone who thinks there's no way she's possibly a fairy. Obviously she's lying or has been duped.

I'm not saying all otherkin are like this. However, most of the ones I've encountered are.

...use their beliefs to beat you over the head with how special they are.

Special bad! Special not nice word! Special mean tarded!

Okay, that was fun. Now for a little seriosity.
There's always someone who will insist and insist when you say you don't believe them. "I have a very real cock.. I am Otherkin! I am a dragon!" Like when someone says "I don't believe in God", about ten people will jump up and insist that there is one and try to hand the disbeliever proof that God exists because they Said So and You Must Believe It Too. Or when someone says "I believe in God" and ten people will jump up and tell you that you're Full of Shit and Insist there is no god and they have Proof and You Must Believe It Too. That drives me nuts. Of course, being agnostic, I get the same thing bisexuals get: "You're just confused and can't make up your mind!"

People can believe their true forms are four-assed monkeys if they want, it makes no nevermind to me. I will reserve the right and option to personally think it's impossible for a human to be a four-assed monkey, though many humans act like four-assed monkeys. If a human suddenly changed shape in front of my eyes to reveal themselves to be a Monkey with Four Asses, then I will believe it (and hope said monkey is housebroken and not given to sudden projectile shitting).

And you know, I'm the last one to mock someone's sincerely held religious beliefs, no matter how wacky they seem, but, IMHO, when you believe that your dad AND your doctor are both Otherkin, you've crossed the line from "religious beliefs" into "what color IS the sky in that little world of yours?"

Maybe that's just me, though. ;)

It's frightening, but I actually had to go check to make sure this IrishTwilight isn't my crazy "cousin." The one who called me a satanist in high school, but then went around telling us all how she could put out candles with her mind and needed to collect all the elemental powers in order to save the world. Then she was a Buddhist for a week, and then for awhile I think she was a Psy-vamp.

These people are even scarier in person.

From what I've seen, there are two different kinds of people who call themselves Otherkin.

There are the ones who just sort of believe, probably don't say much, and if they do say it with no expectation of you believing, and no interest in forcing you to do so. These people are tolerable to interesting.

Then there are the ones like this girl. These people should be locked up in a Very. Small. Room. At best.

"Yeah, so if you come over bring a porta potty and a blow-up plastic wading pool!"

While the part about siblings one cares about dying sucks, what is with the feeling "so gipped" about being born when her mother was 43? She seems to be trying to place some blame on being born to middle aged parents. My mother was 41 when she had me and my sister made me an aunt four days before my fifth birthday! The paiinnn! It took away my trust forever!!

Actually, no. My kindergarten teacher thought I meant that I was going around saying I was an "ant" rather than an aunt and thought it was cute but then got concerned when I said my brothers are uncles. She had to call my mom and confirm it. Silly teacher.
