stfu and get off my internet
Urban Decay is a fun LJ community where people post pictures of old or condemned buildings in cities around the world.

mgarin73 posts a picture of a neat old building in Detroit.

daemonwolf comments: It's a shame that downtown Detroit is not an acceptable living environment for most. I've always thought that building would make remarkable luxury apartments.

If only the city would really make a turn around. It's gotten better since I left, but not nearly enough.

d0cdet has issues with daemonwolf's comment: what the fuck do you know about detroit

stfu

get off my internet

And they're off!

I second the kitty squeeing. Love kitties. I wish I could bring mine to my dorm room. I don't think it would work so well.

There is nothing in the world that will make me squee like a five year old like kitties.

Maybe, but hopefully affordable ones. Because, really, the world doesn't need more overpriced, undersized housing.

That's right! Well done. The best response to a defense against your ad hominem attacks is to call it irrelevant. Brilliantly maneuvered.

That comment with the screetching monkey icon is great.

I kind of like d0cdet's method of arguing. It's like…
while 1:
  flip_out()
  abuse((commenter, everyone.defending_commenter),
    "You suck because you hate my town, you rich white fuck!")
  if response(replier) == BRAIN_HURTS:
    abuse((replier, everyone), "stfu")

You know someone is looking for trouble when they go "No, by using 'most people' you meant 'snobby white people'" when the first person wasn't even talking about races...

Holy classism, batman!

Holy kneejerk assumptions, Green Arrow!

All I know is that getting lost in Detroit a couple of years ago was scary as hell; I apparently took myself on a tour of the worst places in the city. There were also some really beautiful parts, but of course I don't remember them even half as well as the scary places.

Dunno, both sides were sort of wanky, but WTF with bringing race on the table for everything? over sensitive much? It should be the new Godwin's law...

I found Detroit a beautiful city. I wouldn't live there. Not because of worries about crime and such (I lived in New Orleans for a while, those things really don't bother me) but because it is awfully goddamn cold in the winter time.

Best comment EVER.

And I'm not just saying that because the weather went from 75 to 45 in a fucking day last week.

Yeah, it's the BEST PLACE TO LIVE IN THE WORLD!!! I don't care if it has no public transportation, no streetlights on large stretches of major roads, an utterly corrupt city government, and one of the worst school systems imaginable!! If you'd rather live somewhere where the ambulances and police don't take an hour and a half to get to your house, then you must be an OMG racist white suburbanite!

I would say four, yes. I think there are 7-8 in the full picture but I can't remember.

The wank aside, I find its normally a very fun and polite community. I hope you enjoy it, too!
