Generalizations! Fresh generalizations! Getcher sweeping generalizations here!
Over at [info]_discussion, [info]theinamorato (He of the "Tell me what you really hate about the opposite gender" fame) announces that he's found proof that evolution doesn't work. Wank, naturally, ensues. Be sure not to miss the part where Southerners are called deformed products of incest, and [info]theinamorato reveals that he's in favor of eugenics.

Ooo! I have a society in my original story that does something like that. Sort of.

Errrgh. I'm not gonna look, I'll just have a fit...

At least, I need to keep telling myself that...
Especially with eugenics up there. I'll just have a quiet moment of screaming now, thanks.

I love the way this person somehow thinks he's a cultured individual that stands apart from the seething mass of common culture. Seriously, though, why is it that people in favour of eugenics are always the sorts one would rather keep away from the gene pool?

Foul play, [info]theinamorato; loss of insult credibility points, back to the five yard line.

One thing that I have a problem with is the statement that the purpose of evolution is to pass on genes that would push forward the human race

"Purpose of evolution" = automatic fail.

"Look at the mass of modern American society, they're ugly morons! OMG humanity is doomed!"

Mmmyeah, and medieval peasants were paragons of intelligence, style, and blooming good health. So are modern American academics.

History and classism aside, evolution is NOT slowing down now that natural selection pressures have been reduced in the industrialized world. Evolution has speeded up. Go read a book, [info]theinamorato, ya ugly moron.

See, it's a common misconception by most people that evolution is striving for higher, better, stronger.

It's just for what works at the moment. And that's why it's awesome. <3

Non-science person poking her head in: those two guys in the first picture that someone said were "obviously" an example of inbreeding - is there any truth to that? I mean, they were not what I'd call attractive, but are those kind of facial features connected to inbreeding? Inquiring minds want to know.

Inbreeding street cred: my aunt and uncle were cousins, although they never had any kids.
