Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
The online drama is what's wanky here, the story itself is really quite sad. The body of a girl was recently discovered and found to be that of Taylor Behl, who’d been missing for some time. One of the suspects was Ben Fawley, a friend of the deceased. Both Behl and Fawley have live journals.

Cue the:
· Messages of sympathy for Behl’s family;
· Messages of hate for Fawley;
· Trolls blaming Behl;
· Trolls posting porn;
· Outraged people responding to the trolls;
· Analyses of Behl’s character and family life, and whether any of it contributed to what happened;
· Threats against commentators making said analyses;
· People who didn’t know Behl making all sorts of memorials (writing poems, lighting candles, making photoshopped pictures);
· People claiming that it’s all a case of Missing White Girl syndrome and that the memorial makers are insincere, self-righteous and their photoshopped memorials suck;
· Two aforementioned groups of people fighting with each other.

Fawley is apparently no longer considered a suspect in this case, although he is being held on other charges. Fawley has locked his journal and his Deviant Art account was deleted. People are instead responding to the comments he’d left in earlier entries in Behl’s journal. Go internet justice!

ETA: I was wrong, Fawley is still a suspect.

Poke around here a bit

Crimelibrary is (of course) like crack.
But the most recent quote in the timeline is:
Oct. 7 — Police Chief Monroe says it is "not incorrect" to consider Ben Fawley a suspect in Taylor's death.

That quote was from after the body was found. They said he no longer was a person of interest before the body was found. And apparently, the location of the body was found near a place there were pictures of on his Deviant page. Ouch.

Ah, I missed that, thanks for the link! (You're right, that place is like crack.) It's not looking good for this guy, is it?

I third that Crimelibrary is definitely like crack. It's one of the sites I breeze by on a daily basis.

I did have a chance to look at Fawley's Deviant page while Taylor was still missing and he had a rather snitty message up stating that he'd pulled his contact information off it because of 'media assholes'. Looking at his gallery, didn't look that impressive in my opinion.
