Hate the sin! No hate the sinner!
OK, so I'm trying to clean up the flood in my basement and I get one channel on the basement TV. It's Dr Phil! On Wednesday, he's taking on 'Being Gay.' I said, whoa, I need to go check out his message board for that one. And I sure wasn't disappointed.

http://drphil.com/messageboard/topic/593

15 pages of -- hate the sin! No, hate the sinner!

christ on a crutch-- wtf is wrong with people? Is Dr. Phil's entire audience made up of fundies? It's running 10-1 ranting fundies vs people who don't think everyone in the world should live their way.

Makes for entertaining reading though.

little disclaimer-- I used to actually *like* his show.* It sucks ass now. I think someone's gotten a little big for their britches...

Well, I'm hardly surprised by the people who tell them "I LOVE YOU BECAUSE GOD SAYS I SHOULD, BUT YOU GET ANYWHERE NEAR MY ASS AND YOU'RE DEAD", because that's the kind of hypocracy that modern organized religion encourages in people. 'It's alright as long as it isn't you'. Which is really no way to be.

It's too bad you don't put more emphasis on what God says on the subject, instead of homosexual propoganda. If you reject the Bible, and what Jesus taught, then fine. Do what you will, but to claim to be a Christian and reject the teachings of Jesus because you want to continue to live a life of sin is hypocrisy.

...

Many people live perverted sexual lives. Premarital sex is just as evil as homosexual sex or beasiality or pedophelia. They are equally harmful and outside of God's plan for His children. Of course you don't hear single people claiming people who disagree with their choices are "forniphobic". The reason people made up the meaningless term homophobic is because they don't want people to disagree with them. It is sheer politics.

...

God calls His children to Holiness. Not pervertedness.

...

Read the impure posts here, and the hatred towards everything holy and good.

The only hatred here is towards the Majesty of a Holy God.

Wow, ykzpilot. Tell us what you really think. And then don't wonder when everyone thinks that Christians are militant crazed.

That's because "prudes" is much easier to say.

'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you'.

'Love thy neighbor'.

Yeah I'm not seeing 'hate people who choose to live in a way I don't personally approve of' and yeah Leviticus doesn't fucking count.

'You don't choose to be gay, you choose a lifestyle not a same sex partner'.

Hmmm. And here I thought being gay was all about the same sex partner thing. Of course, what with my lack of being oppressed and my lack of sexual identity crisis, I've already figured out I'm going about being gay the whole wrong way. Pray tell, what is this lifestyle I should be living? I hope it involves lots of video games, fan fiction, cooking and vacations to national parks. Because really, those are the major components of my life.

You know what? The original discussion question was wanky enough for me.

...Then, two men debate whether a person can go from gay to straight,

Why is this a debate? There is study after study after study that proves it's impossible to change sexual orientation, and no scientific evidence on the ex-gay side to back up their claims. So why the fuck are they given equal time and consideration?

If you're going to do that, than every time NASA is in the news, CNN should bring in one of the cult crazies who believes the moon landing was staged and that it's impossible to leave the atmosphere because humans can't reach heaven without God.

Jeez. There is stuff to debate (Christian views on homosexuality, for one) but giving validity to a harmful, false position is just stupid.

and parents of a 4-year-old boy fear their son's desire to play with dolls and wear heels means he'll grow up to be gay. Are they overreacting to his wishes to be a princess instead of a prince? Join the discussion.

AAARRRGGHHH!!! He's four years old! Four year olds don't understand gender roles! Four year olds are at the "oooh, pretty" stage. So he likes to play with dolls...so fucking what? Is it still the 1950s? Are we so threatened by a boy who might actually have some nurturing emotions? *stabbity*

/wank

I stopped liking Dr Phil the time he introduced politics to his show by bringing in some "Mothers for Peace" or something and attacking them by asking them questions like "Don't you think your activity helps the enemy?". It was disgusting - mainly because it's got fuck all to do with the idea of his show - helping people with their relationship & lifestyle problems.

So, uhm, I assume Dr Phil isn't very tolerant about this ghey business?

I think being gay is genetic but not a good thing. I don't think it is normal or should ever be considered normal but a biological defect like mental illness. As so many people say they wouldn't choose it.

Dude, if we could change our sexual orientation, I would SO be a lesbian. I mean, the fact that I am so fed up with all the guys I meet, yet I still am not attracted to women is proof enough for me that you don't get to pick.

I think if you are gay "that's nice" but I really don't care what you do in private.

Well that's a switch. Most fundies I see on TV do seem to care what people do in their bedrooms. Like, to the point of being creepy about it. o.O

I would like to know why so many married men go to parks to pay for sex with underage boys/

Is this really a big problem in America? Seriously? I can't say I've heard of an epidemic...
