Looking up an old girlfriend: Gyno-wank!
Ah, [info]customers_suck. You never fail to entertain.

[info]dr_internet, a receptionist for an OB/GYN, makes the following post, reprinted here in case it gets bahleeted:

So I work at an OBGYN office, and as anyone who works there knows, we are dealing with people who are either pregnant and bitchy or calling in about their stank, infested snatches all day. Once you've worked in a place like this long enough, you sort of become immune to stank, infested vagina talk. Ah, I've digressed. So after a day full of getting bitched at by fat cow preggos, this slightly famous newscaster comes in claiming that she has a appointment. Well, guess what? She doesn't and the dr.'s aren't going to see her because she always pulls this kind of crap. So I was all:

"I'm sorry, you cant be seen today, why dont we schedule an appointment"
"Dr. H promised to see me?"
"Oh, really? That's odd. Dr. H is on a 3 month leave."

And then the bitch starts SCREAMING AT ME. Telling me how she doesn't have the TIME to come back because she's so busy and if I had a REAL career I would know what that's like. Man, it took all the strength I had, but I had to bite my lip. So does she stop? Of course not. She starts rubbing it in! Talking about all the people she has to meet and the places she has to be. Piss off, lady! If you know my job stinks of rancid vaginas, why are you rubbing it in!

So one of the other doctors who i dont like very much comes out and agrees to see her and tells me to "fetch" her chart. Yes, the doctor actually said FETCH. And the news bitch just smirked at me.

So of coure I go and get her chart. Yep, what do you know. Herpes. Dumb bitch.

But the story isn't over yet! So I go home and I blog about it, and even though I don't use her name, I make it quite clear who she is. Later that night, totally forgetting that I did it, I joined youcantwrite and the_reviewers, well not only did they critique my writing in such a fashion that made me want to delete (which I later did, most of my entries anyway) but one of the guys who was in the_reviewers was RELATED to the woman and threatened to sue me. Yes, someone threatened to sue me over the mother floofing internet. I dunno, I felt really bad, so I deleted almost everything in my journal and vowed to do two things:

#1. first, become a better writer cuz that means more than anything
#2. never talk about patients on the internet OOPS!
#3. quit my job.

yup, i wont be fetching for much longer. assholes.

[info]volare is the first to respond:

"Criminal penalties may be imposed on any person or entity that knowingly and in violation of HIPAA uses or causes to be used or discloses PHI [personal health information]. In such event, the violator may be fined up to $50,000 to $250,000 and/or imprisoned for not more than one year, or up to ten years depending on the nature and extent of the violation."

sleep well.
idiot.

The OP responds, and they're off.

Other highlights include:

ZOMG only sluts get herpes!

I went to j-school, so I know the law!

"I hope hell opens up and swallows you and that you be repeatedly sodomized by the devil himself."

Good times, good times.

Actually, in the [info]too_much_info entry, she claimed to have emptied a stool sample into the patient's purse.

I smell either a troll or a major liar. She'd have been arrested by now if that had happened.

For the patient's sake, I hope that is a lie. o_O

TROLL. Anyone who works in medicine, even peripherally as a receptionist or whatever, gets HIPPA and general privacy ethics drilled into their heads.

Jeez, I worked for a health insurance company (and not dealing with actual policies--I worked at corporate HQ as a *print buyer* and got corporate letterhead/business cards/memo pads printed for employees) and *I* got it drilled into my head. I had to go to at least two seminars on it, and the chance that I was going to get near patient information at work was about the same chance that I'd find your medical records lying on the sidewalk.

Word. Hell, back in the day when I was wee and spent half my life in the nurse's office, I had privacy ethics drilled into my head. Never mind that I rarely overheard anything more exciting than someone having an allergic reaction to a peanut.

I weep for the hospital that I used to work at; I worked in the ER and in records and somehow I think all the ethics speeches never made it my way. oO

Although, to be fair, that's a more recent thing. I mean, when I started in peds, it wasn't quite as insane. Yeah, don't spread the names and shit around, but no firm policy.

It's really been in the last few years that things went loony. Now, I can't even say hello to patients if they don't acknowlege me first in public.

What's the POINT of journal rating communities? I get it for icons, lay-outs, fanfic, sure. But rating the content of your journal? That's like asking people to rate your life. "There was no funny in your journal, I give it a D." The hell?

I read 'what are you supposed to be a witch doctor or sumfin?'

as 'a witch doctor or smufin'. And then spent five minutes wondering what a smufin was. All I came up with was a smurf/muffin hybrid.

So, like... this troll doesn't actually LOOK at the diseased snatches, right? S/h/it just THINKS about them when they look at the person? Right?

Because I could MIGHT excuse it if you had to touch or palpate or PROBE a diseased snatch, but if you're just checking them in, you need to turn your imagination down a bit.

I mean, really. I just go to the gyn to get my prescriptions, although last time I went I had a breast lump. But of course, that's because I'm a nasty diseased whore. Not because it might have been cancer or anything. (It wasn't.)
