You'll go blind, you know - and that's not very "Edge".
Can the Straight Edge livejournal crowd keep from acting up for more than five minutes together? The answer, coming this time from LJ's X_Grrrls community, appears to be "no". Anyway, CeruleanSwirl (who also likes to make a mess at the sXe community) gets very cross about a previous post (in which Cutie_Pie_Kels waffles on semi-coherently) and decides that her responses there simply weren't wanky enough. From her post, we learn that one can never return to the Straight Edge Valley if one Betrays Teh Edge. Straight Edge is not a forgiving mistress. It's all a bit intimidating, to be honest :(

There must be rules, dammit! Because if there are no rules no one will recognize how SPESHUL I am for being straight edge! Also, giving people second or *gasp* third chances will ruin the SPESHULNESS of being straight edge, too, and therefore I will not allow it!

I'm so very the opposite of with-it; the first time I saw sXe, I read it as 'sexy' and became wholly confused until my younger sister explained 'edge to me.

She described it this: "Nice straightedge people don't drink, smoke, do drugs or hump a lot, and they listen to unmainstream music and are fun to be with. Dumbass straightedge people are the same way, but they think you're going to hell if you so much as look at a near-beer and they have sticks up their butts and they whine about how edge they are, how edge other people aren't, and how all band sell out at the drop of a hat. Even when it has nothing to do with the present conversation. It's like 'oh how's the weather' 'YOU! YOU TOUCHED A BEER CAN!! UNCLEEEEAN!' No, I'm really not exaggerating, stop giving me the eyebrow."

...okay. So I don't drink, because I don't like alcohol (though I do cook with it), I don't smoke because I hate smoke and have an asthmatic friend who would never hang out with me ever again, and don't do drugs because I'm not interested in doing anything harder than weed, and I don't smoke and am to lazy to do anything else with pot. I don't have sex because I...don't.

Why the hell would I need to have this validated and given a *title*?

(Also, peer pressure wtf? No one has *ever* said anything more to me than "hey, would you like a beer/joint/cig?" and then taken my polite no as "hey, more for me!")
