wtf-inc wank
Over at wtf-inc, there is a post that features a (NSFW and hilarious) video of a 9-year-old boy swearing at his mother and ordering her to bring him some "fucking chocolate milk" while he plays a video game with his mic on. Everything looks pretty normal, with wtf-inc-ish snark, mostly commenting that the mother is at fault for letting the kid act like such an ass and that they would beat him if he were theirs.

In steps [info]misanthropette, who suggests it's not all the mother's fault and that it's not possible to actually beat the kid to a pulp, etc. [info]spencer_mato and [info]summon_the_rain don't take too kindly to this and procede with personal attacks ranging from You're stupid enough that if you got hit by a bus right in front of me I'd laugh, and say it was your own fault for being retarded to Wow, you are a fucking hippy, you know that? including dissections of whether or not she is a true misanthrope/Christian.

I think they're still going.

like the idea of spanking, even, but what is with these parents who
don't seem to know that there's a middle ground between abusing your
kid and being a damned doormat?

Any Brits here saw Britain's Worst Teenager last night? Nominee number one was a 17-yo girl, two years out of school, who was "bankrupting her parents" because of her shopping habits. Which her parents were financing. Becaue she refused to get a job. And she spent £500+ in a month on her dad's credit card. And apparently it didn't occur to these parents to stop paying for her clothes then, because frankly, I can't quite blame the kid to keep taking advantage of her parents after they'd been spoiling her since toddlerhood.

Same thing with nominee number two, a 15-yo with a "gaming addiction". which started when he was five. Again, it didn't occur to these parents to intervene at any point in the previous ten years?

(OTOH, nominee number three was, as far as I could see, pretty much your average teenaged girl. Slamming doors, being sulky and not wanting to spend time with the family ... Yeah, I'm sorry, but that's ... not actually out of the ordinary, there.)

The last guy was actually deserving of being nominated--he liked shooting his pellet gun at his sister and gran, etc., but again, my parents would've just binned the gun, and god help me if I'd have bought a new one and pulled that shit
again.

</ramble>

I know good parents can have badly-behaved kids, but in so many cases, it's so obvious they made their own damned bed and should STFU and lie in it already.

She has a good point, beating a kid to a bloody pulp is counter-productive. She just forgot it was the Intraweb rather than a panel on child rearing and personal problems.

They're all idiots. Sure, you can't beat the kid bloody to make him behave, but you don't have to roll over and accept that kind of bratty behavior either. You could, oh, spike his "fucking chocolate milk" with tabasco sauce (a major ingredient in "fucking chocolate milk," now that I think of it) and confiscate his Xbox for starters.

I didn't watch the video but I read the wank, and misanthropette is definitely winning. I may not agree with her, but she doesn't seem as batshit insane as the other two poster. They really need to take a chill pill. Or are they just trolling?

I would smack my kid into the middle of next week, and be waiting for him when he got there to smack him back.

I've known kids that even after getting hit by their parent and having their stuff removed they would still talk back to the parent. So really, even if you do punish your kid or even teach them to not swear it doesn't always work. Granted it's 1/1000 or more, but still misanthropette as somewhat of a point.

Once I was about to tell my mom to shut up. Only I caught myself after saying, "Sh-"...my mom hit the roof anyway. Didn't smack me or anything, and I don't think I got grounded, but she definitely chewed me out.

I hate to think what would happen if I actually swore at her.

Wow, I'd be dead if I ever said anything like that to my parents. I got the verbal smackdown for saying I was pissed one time and another time for saying I was "freaking hungry" cause they knew what that really meant.

If I dared to act like that to my mother, she'd've gotten me the milk with a smile on her face and soon as I walked away from the gaming system, it would dissappear until I'd find it years later packed in storage.

My kids know if they ask politely, I will get them whatever snack/drink they want soon as I'm able. Mouthing off means toys go dissappear.
