PetFinder Wank
Sadly, the really spectacular wanks on the PetFinder forums tend to get locked and/or humanely euthanized by the moderators before they can be seen and loved by us wankers. But here's a sample to give you an idea of the kinds of things that go on.

Simple question from the OP about dogs in wheelchairs.

Most everybody chimes in with some story about the dog they knew in a wheelchair who got along great and how, if the dog's not in pain and the owner is up for it, a wheelchair can make for a relatively happy doggy life for a paralyzed pooch.

Then RESCUEWENCH chimes in with
i guess its a toss up - on how you would perfer to live..personally i have a GSD - if he developed any spinal problems ( breed has genetic problems with them also) i would take him to the vet - hold him in my arms kiss him good bye and euth him.

.

i would not want to live in a wheel chair - and would not want my dog to either.'

now a million people will freak out because a million people live in wheel chairs and have fulfilling lives..kudos for them..

but again we are talking about a dog here .

not a human that has the CHOICE.

i wouldnt do it for any of my dogs.

i dated an X jockey--who was in a wheel chair - paralyzed for the rest of his life..he was ok with it..he was a cool guy.

but frankly - IMO-- i will not suffer my dog to scuff around with a wheeled backend.

.

i am a FIRM beliver DEATH is NOT the end but a beginning. and - life is the real --heck--.

and ..that is JMHO.

Someone asks her to clarify her stance - which seems to be rather unusual, and gets more of the same, with

i would have never put that fine schhIII, PPD KKL1- dog in a friggen wheel chair! he would not have like that at all.

Some people say she is entitled to her opinion, but are baffled by it. Some people think that she is projecting her own stigma about wheelchairs onto her dogs. Rescuewench decides that people telling inspirational stories about wheelchair-bound dogs are insulting her, pisses off a diabetic, makes unwise remarks about crackheads (schhIII, PPD KKL1 are apparently references to guard-dog training), and eventually pulls the 'I have cancer' card.

Everyone else still thinks that doggy wheelchairs are fine if the dog's not in pain and the owner is up for it.

Damn. I know it's cliche to say I hope she doesn't have kids, but I really hope she never has any kids with disabilities!

"Mommy, I'm paralyzed."
"You're of no use to me now. Catch you on the flipside." *BANG*

At the risk of crossing the wank streams, she seems like she'd do well in cf_hardcore, except for the having kids thing.

The only shame is, they don't seem to be balanced so the dogs can go WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! down the hills. 'Cause dogs would totally dig that.

God forbid she think about THE DOG and whether he's suffering, or whether he'd really rather just get some wheels and go cruise the yard for awhile before dinner.

I love how she has a breed that this might actually happen to. If your idea of 'taking care of the problem' is killing your dog, why did you buy this breed, again?

She should trade it in for a Smith & Wesson. You don't have to put one of those down Then there's the happy possibility of her shooting herself by accident, too.

This reminds me of an old story I heard when I was a kid, of an old lady who got an old cat. After a few years, when the cat, lived to like 18, she noticed he had stopped coming when she called. She took him to the vet and vet said that he had gone deaf - and, considering the cat's age, it would probably be best to put him down.

The lady bitched out the vet. The cat, while deaf, still had his other senses, could still walk and was perfectly happy. Just because he had a disability didn't mean he was suffering.

The cat outlived the old lady.

It makes me happy to see they can fit at least mini-horses because usaully if equines have anything wrong with their legs they get put down in order to spare them a lingering death.

Am I the only one who thinks animals look kinda cute with wheels?

My father, in a moment of frustration, once speculated on the possibility of breeding square, stackable cows with no legs, which could be fitted with wheels to move them about for milking and feeding.

Now that would be cute.

Why does she think life in a wheelchair would be so horrible? And why does she assume her dog would have the same hangups? (Notice how first she applies this statement to all pets she has or may ever have, but then says "well, really this was in reference to my *working* dog...")

Why does she think life in a wheelchair would be so horrible? .

Beats me, but as a wheeler, I get the "oh-you're-so-brave-and-tragic"> vibe from a lot of folks in RL, and I don't get it. I'm an asshole just like everyone else. Only difference is, I can ogle male genitalia and bums all day long and not get called on it because it's all at eye level.

God, i hate Petfinder. I have used it on occasion to look for a new pet but i avoid the boards like the plague now. So many extremists and other weirdos.

If that woman is involved in animal rescue, i weep for the animals. She's got a piss poor attitude.

The sad thing about even the most benign and admirable animal-welfare organizations is how they have a natural magnetism for every asshat in the world who 'loves animals' because they have 0 people skills.
