Once upon a time, there was a community on livejournal called dot_sex_snark. It was much like fandom_wank, only friendslocked, and the pointing and laughing was about sex comms, not fandom. Every now and then there was drama, which is probably what promted today's events.

Today, almost 200 members of the comm were kicked off. Here's why, says the comm.

This message originally also said that you could appeal to dss_appeal, if you felt wronged.

Someone who was booted decide to create a new comm called sex_snark, and invite several former members of dss to join.

I'm thinking the dss crowd didn't quite approve of this, as the appeal part of the original message in dss was replaced with:

If you feel this decision regarding your status in particular has been made in error, you can STFU. We're done. It's an LJ community. Go whine in dot_cattiness along with all the other people who need waaaaahmbulances.

Eta: People are in fact whining in dot__cattiness.

What a brilliant precedent! People are being removed from an Internet snark community because someone doesn't "trust" them.

Erm...trust them to do what, exactly? IntraWebz! Brand Trusttm -- for when that nice Draco/Lupin slasher in chat likes to axe-murder Buddhist nuns in real life...but is considerate enough not to trouble you with that fact on-line. Now available in cherry, lime and sour grapes flavours.

I joined under a sockpuppet account I use for the adult comms to keep my ah . . . interests out of my regular LJ. I didn't really participate, just lurked, and the sockpuppet was one of those locked out.

Which explains why my regular LJ (which may or may not have also joined, I don'r remember) recieved an invite to sex snark.

I was wondering about that. Eh, I was thinking of leaving DSS anyway.
