Wow.

I'm Catholic, and while I don't agree with everything the Catholic Church does, it kind of hurts to see such hatred and rage being spewed there. What did Mother Theresa ever do to them?

And they need to stop being so narrowminded. While the "official" stance is no birth control, not many Catholics actually follow this, just the most hardcore of them.

The Catholic church is not perfect, but then again, neither is any other religion. It's just that the Catholic church is so big that it's crimes seem that much bigger.

And because, y'know, no preacher, rabbi or reverand ever molested a child, ever. Just Catholic priests.

And because the church is so old. I mean, for centuries, Christianity was the only religion of many nations. Oh yeah, if someone cross-sectioned the entire congregation on Sunday High Mass, you'd find tons of people who use ABC. And some women who had abortions too.

In 1966, a priest advised my mom to use ABC when she came to him saying she didn't want to get pregnant again after having her second miscarriage. He even gave her the names of doctors to go to. Both sets of my grandparents and most of my aunts and uncles had average two or three kids, one aunt had just one. Something tells me they didn't practice abstinence!

I've been telling people that for years, that Catholicism is a huge world religion. Also with its clergy being celibate, the news tends to freak out higher. I figure most people know enough that priests don't learn kid-raping in seminary but sadly there's a lot of squeaky wheels who actually believe that. Thing is, pedophiles tend to get jobs or follow a course of study to a career that puts them in contact with children, especially a position of trust. And most cases of position-of-trust sexual abuses are perpetrated by non-clergy. Of course, if Ginmar was here, she'd yell at me to cite my sources.
