Over on [info]snopes_dot_com Tuesday's update was about an email going around from a Grandmother asking for prayers for her critically ill granddaughter. (Or something. Like I actually read the link.)

Anyway, the first post (from [info]nemesisbecoming) asks "What the hell is this?" and you just know the thread is going downhill from there.

[info]shawny demands prayers because she wants a new car (goddammit!)

[info]twillitts dives straight in:
"Yeah, b/c that's as equally worthy a cause... stupid twat."

And they're off!

Highlights include:

"Your icon is ugly HAHAHAHA!" "No, your icon is uglier Nya Nah Na Naaah Nahhhh!"

"You're a fundamentalist nutjob (and probably gay)."

"Can't we all get along?" "NO!"

Pneumowned!

And something that was tl;dr for me (because I'm tired), but is along the lines of "So what if it's a hoax, prayer =/= money ... move to Europe if you don't like it."

Seriously, blaming the grandmother for this email going all over the internet, possibly long after said grandchild has recovered, is not productive, even if it can be annoying when someone sends you this sort of thing. (And I've a coworker who keeps me well supplied with them.) She seems to have sent it to people she knew.

This is an interesting post nonetheless, because I've never before pondered the existence of prayer scams. Do prayer scammers get time in purgatory after they die?

Whoa. From relatively polite to vitriol and bitchitude in 4.5 posts. I honestly can't decide which one in that thread I dislike more. The free-thinking Canadian? The confrontational American? Ah, humanity!

Where have I seen [info]godisprolife before? His very journal name, userinfo and identity (he's ex-gay) make me think he's a wanker of some sort. I know I've seen him before, and it was probably here.

The name seemed familiar to me as well, so I did some searching. A few days ago there was this: http://www.journalfen.net/community/otf_wank/326980.html with g0disprolife, but she is not the same person as the godisprolife who wanked here: http://www.journalfen.net/community/otf_wank/256594.html
So clearly, people who believe that god is pro-life are wankers.

He's used to pop up on ljdrama quite a bit as he was in tons of religion/Christianity-related arguments on eljay and used to sign every single comment with "Fondly, Nathan Sheets."
