To the Breast-feeding lady:

I am well aware you have a right to breast-feed your child. In fact, I congratulate you because apparently it's better for said child. What I object to is being faced with your thrusting breast while I'm trying to serve you. This is a cafe, not a titty-bar, and I do not expect to get breasts in my face when I go to work. Please, do me a favour and put a towel or something over your breast to save me and others the embarrassment. Especially, I would appreciate it if you did not also expose the breast not in use!

I wonder - does anyone else have a problem with being surprised by a bared breast? Or pair of breasts in this case. The woman had her goddamn shirt fully unbuttoned and no bra on (and I betcha she'll complain about saggy breasts in a few years time, too...) It was in a shopping centre, even, where there are mothers' rooms.

I had a feeling this one would end up here. It's one of those topics that can never, ever be discussed rationally and always triggers the same explosion.

I like the bit about being straight too. Does that mean that I, as a bi chick, should have no problem with some random woman's boob hanging out? Okay, normally, that'd be fine, but the kid attached to it does tend to change the situation a bit.

It's like you read my mind. Random boobs are only sexy when A) the woman to whom they are attached is sexy and B) the person whose mouth is on them, if any, is both an adult and also sexy.

I am completely distracted from the OMG SKIN! silliness by the 'very female, very straight' qualification. I just have absolutely no idea what the hell that is supposed to mean.

Are only men and gay women normally allowed to complain about public breastfeeding? Are boobs supposed to be invisible unless you're a man or a gay woman, and admitting you noticed them is cause for suspicion? Are readers supposed to deduce some extra special level of offense from a customer daring to have breasts in the presence of a straight woman? Or does she just want everyone to know that despite having been exposed to the awesome power of naked breasts, she's Still Not Gay?

How about I just watch the Married... With Children episode where Marcy organises a breast-feeding protest in the shoestore, and Al counters it by getting his NO MAAM buddies to wobble their beer bellies in front of the women so they leave in disgust?

Because that would probably be shorter, funnier, and just about the same arguement wise, really.

In Ontario,Canada(where I live) it's legal for woman to be topless on the street and all(though you don't see any...) but yeah, those "OMGBOOBSINPUBLIC!!!" shouldn't come here, they might see some...

The original poster acts like the breastfeeding woman just about shoved her boobs in her face.

Me, I would've just concidered it tacky if the breastfeeding woman had her shirt all open like that and just moved along. But then, boobs are boobs, nothing special and if I want to see a pair I just look down my shirt.

Now, I guess it comes down to context. I am all for women being able to breastfeed because, yes, better for the baby. But where was said woman and said server when this was going on?

If the woman was... I don't know, standing at the counter while breastfeeding and ordering? Not okay.

Same way being at the counter and talking on your cellphone ain't okay.

Well, I'm all for breastfeeding and I don't think you should have to seclude yourself in a bathroom stall to do it, but I agree with using a towel. Straight or not, most people don't like to see intimate body parts hanging out while they're trying to eat.

What really bugs me is all this "saggy rack" "boobs in my face" etc stuff. As though it would be ok as long as the boobs were firm and perky.
