Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:defensiveness ahoy, feminism: you're doing it wrong

Six months ago, agilebrit defriended ginmar stating her reasons in her own journal, basically saying she disagreed with the things ginmar was saying.

Fast forward to now, and ginmar has found the entry and is calling the op and everyone who commented cowardly bitches and saying to one, "You're that professional virgin, aren't you? No wonder you can't handle anything more thna (sic) black or white."

Update: "I was never on your friends list!"

I'll admit that's still not making the slightest bit of sense to me, or a shred of justification for the absolutely incredible levels of aggression, offensiveness, repugnant misogyny and sheer insanity. Someone defriends someone because they're tired of being bored or offended... and that means a third person gets to be abused for possibly possessing a hymen? After all, we're not talking about bestest friends who broke up and may have bad history, but virtual strangers, one of whom decided she didn't feel like reading the other's lj anymore. Given that the reasons for defriending were precisely *not* wanting to be bothered reading ginmar's posts anymore, I think the benefit of doubt would suggest she couldn't be damned seeking them out to sekritly read them, flock or not. If she was so worried about non-mutual friending, the sane option would be to simply check and defriend people who don't have her friended, not hunt them down months over and act like a rooster with its head chopped off.

Defriending someone without making a big song and dance about it - but, mind you, making a post explaining why that would be perfectly visible if ginmar care enough to read her full fpage - is hardly a crime. Actually, I'd think it much, much better than posting "I defriend because I hate!" in their own space.
