For Once they're Not Wanking about Slash!
My, my, GAFF how far ye have fallen!

It all starts out as a Godawful News thread about a rape victim being denied the morning after pill by a local pharmicist.

People naturally boo and hiss however this being a volatile subject (it seems all you have to do is *mention* abortion and people get riled)several small wanks break-out.

I'm not exactly for casual sex. At least, not with tons of people. Protection is great & all, but there's still a risk. I'd prefer it if the couple knew each other for a while, say six months. Yeah, it's a long time, but I think sex is something only properly done between two people who truly care about each other. Ideal? Yes. Impossible? Nearly. I guess I'm just a hopeless romantic.

Response #2

*Cough* Moving on...

Someone just had to bring it up.

You use the word child to refer to a fetus. A quaint notion, but scientifically innacurate.

I'm utterly disgusted by women who take no such precautions, have unprotected sex, and then just casually use abortion as birth control.

Abortion discussion always brings out the wankers on both sights and I need a profile for a later.

Never a truer word spoken.

Summarized, his theory is that people should be free to be racists or sexist or religious zealots of that's what they believe in, and other people shouldn't be forcing them to violate their own beliefs -- particularly in situations like pharmacists refusing prescriptions, when the person who needs the medicine can go to another pharmacist. Who is more harmed -- the person who has to drive the extra 10 miles, or the person who was forced to violate their religious beliefs? Just a thought.

Yes you just read that right. But it just keep getting better! When people point out:

So, by that reasoning, if I'm a biology teacher, can I just ignore the evolution theory because it's against my beliefs? You can go read a book if you want to know more about it.

Or... let's say I'm hiring people, but I really don't like people with blond hair. I refuse to employ them. But that's okay, they're also hiring next door, and they have nothing against blond hair. So no harm is done, right?

She has an ever so rational answer!

And another!

People attempt to reason with her as best as they can manage.

Apparently using the same logic again and again will make it right!

And again!

And yet again!

For yet another time!

Now I think she's just backed herself into a corner.

I'm right so nyah!

Boggle away!

2. Rape is a very degrading, demeaning act not just to the rapist, but to the victim as well.

Uh...what?

Godgifu blows my fucking mind. So apparantly, everyone is allowed to be racist/sexist/etc, because hey, it's not like it happens EVERYWHERE, right? Those being victimized can just go somewhere else!

Yo, buddy, I bet you'd feel a little different if you weren't given a life-saving blood transfusion because the doctor was a Jehovah's Witness.

I need to stop before I rave like a madwoman. This whole makes me see red.

The WTF and tl;dr finally overwhelmed me, but I had to share this gem:

EDITED TO ADD: "Pure" homosexuals are a abnormality which has yet to be fully explained. It may be normal, but it's not completely logical. (I have nothing against homosexuals, for the simple reason that I don't care, and that sexual orientation isn't supposed to be relevant in non-romantic activities.)

Head, meet desk. Nice to meetcha.

Stupid "post" button, getting in my way. >:P This is a repost because of easy-click buttons!

About the article itself, I'm confused by how it's written, because it seems to say that all pharmacies in the Fry's chain have a policy of refusing any prescription they find objectionable, and the morning-after pill is one of the most controversial around; and yet the victim had to call a ton of pharmacies and this Fry's was one of only two that actually carried the drug. And "The Fry's spokeswoman could not immediately say how many of its stores had emergency contraception in stock." Which just leaves me wondering, why does Fry's even CARRY the drug if the employees are given the option of not filling it? Just to smugly laugh about how it's sitting on the shelves, protected safely where no one will ever, ever use it?

As for the wank, eesh. There are certain topics you can just toss into any community, then sit back and watch the waters churn as the members all devour each other.

Don't the stores have some kind of policy about hiring people who refuse to sell their products? I mean, could I go work at a sporting goods store and then if anyone wanted to buy, say, a gun, I could just say, "Sorrrrry, I'm against the murder of poor, innocent animals, and besides what if the duck you so CALOUSLY hunted down and killed turned out to be a hero duck that saved someone's life? Huh? And, hey, maybe you just want it to defend yourself if someone breaks into your house, but maybe the burglar has a wife and ten kids they're trying to support and they're starving and desperate, what about that, huh? Bet you didn't think of that"?

Not to stretch the metaphor, or anything.

I'm still completely boggled by the fact that pharmacists can refuse to fill certain prescriptions. I'm kinda glad, because I think that's protecting my brain from some of the more severe batshit over there.

But seriously... they can do that?

One of our bio teachers, being a fundie Christian and kind of a whack job, did almost as good as that. She was required to teach evolution, so she'd spend exactly one class on it, and if you missed it, you were shit outta luck. My high school generally had pretty high quality teaching staff, so I'm hoping the only reason she was still around was tenure.

Eliminating the sex drive would be taking a lot of the pleasure out of life apart from just the sex act itself. A great deal of the pleasure derived from the taste of food, the enticement of scent, and the exitement of a risky sport, for example, are all wired in with sexual pleasure, and I wouldn't willingly give up any of it.

That's funny 'cause I was always taught that, y'know, scent was connected to MEMORY.

Anyway, does this mean that when people lose their sexual desire because of disease or medication they totally lose their sense of smell, sense of taste, AND excitibility? Hahaha...
