A bit hairy.
The puns are numerous, but at least it's not Straight Edge wank *cheers from the audience*.

Anyway, in the HairyPits community (for women with body hair and the issues surrounding same), user SingingSoul posts a (large) photograph of herself with her underarm hair showing. To her distress, she recieves a comment mentioning a "stiffy" from another poster.

Disgusted, she makes a new post bemoaning the men watching the journal and their unpleasant ways. A tiny but sparkly wank (involving user Bordendazed and a couple of others) breaks out surrounding the subject of kicking men in the balls for making sexual comments and the subject of taking everything too seriously. Small, as I say, but better than nothing. Is followed up by a post from LilMissAnthropy, essentially telling SingingSoul to stop complaining.

Er, the second link should be http://www.livejournal.com/community/hairypits/219176.html. It looks like you left the 6 off the end of it.

It's okay, if everyone won, we wouldn't have enough internet to go around!

So, that's a community made because people think body hair on girls is hideous, and one girl gets upset when a guy doesn't think it's ugly?

Uh...

Actually I think it is a community made because people think body hair on girls is sexy, and one girl gets upset when a guy agrees... I don't know, they started spelling it "womyn" and I zoned out after that.

the use of "womyn" instantly riles an urge to be a prick (pardon the pun) towards the idiots that invoked the pseudo word "womyn" in place of woman.

What little I know about word origins makes me want to beat that one into the ground. It combines the 'y makes it cooler!' AND 'the speaker probably has no idea where the word comes from' -- it's like an OTP designed to make my head hurt.

But it could be worse

OMG! I actually need to weep a little. Womyn actually looks sort of sane next to that.

Great. Now I have an image of a giant uterus in the sky.

Where does the word "woman" come from, and what does (or does not) if have to do with the word "man"?

(Personally, I can't use the word "womyn" with a straight face ever since I read Politically Correct Fairy Tales.)

W is for woman, no matter how it's spelled...

It comes from the Old English wifman (am not going to try to produce the diacretics my dictionary gives this), which derives from wif (wife) + man (person, human being). So a woman was a wife-person. Apparently there was also an 'husband-person' word in Old English (werman, according to Wikipedia), and man was just the word for a generic human. Then the meaning of man changed to mean 'male human'.

I think it's the difference between complimenting someone and saying that they gave you a "stiffy". (There was a rant about the wank over at feminist_rage, which I lurk.)

I should say, out of fairness, that I wouldn't like it if someone made comments like that about me. I don't blame 'Soul for being upset, although the internet is a big and mad place and there's no way of knowing who might be looking when you put your photo up on the net, so it does pay to bear that in mind. This does sound a bit like I'm saying "She invited it by posting that picture", and I don't mean that. Just to say that crazy internet people lurk everywhere and it pays to bear that in mind.

So wait shaving = sexual objectification of women?

So I'm not shaving my pit hair cause it bugs me out and makes me feel uncomfortable?

Now, leg hair on the other hand.... well let's just say I wear long pants 24/7 and I'm really lazy.

Since I shave because I don't like the look of my own hairy armpits, does that mean I'm sexually objectifying myself?

There's also that basic hygene thing of deodorant won't work fully if there's too much hair in the pits.

I've not found that. After all, most men don't shave their armpits and not all of them have deodorant problems (men have more sweat glands than women too). Of course, if you're talking about antiperspirant instead, I can see what you mean, but I prefer not to use that anyway. Unless one has a problem somewhere, the age-old problem of stink can be solved by washing regularly :)
