Gaia's Extended Discussion meets otherkin
When the topic of otherkin arises on the Gaia boards, wank just has to ensue. And, of course, it does.

For those of you who don't know, Gaia is a board wherein little anime-style chibis argue with each other and spam madly in search of gold to buy ridiculously addicting clothes to complete their outfits. And damnit, I will someday get fairy wings.

Extended Discussion is where Gaian chibis act pretentious and think they're being deep by bringing up the same few topics ("Bush: How did the monkey man delude America into electing him?" "I'm planning on committing suicide. Please admire my emo angst and discuss the morality of suicide." "Is Masturbations okay?" etc.) and debate it with badly-spelled posts and logic that would make baby Snape kill them all.

And in a breeding ground like this, when the topic of otherkin is brought up, mass stupidity abouts.

We're all familiar with the fact that the Gaia forums are host to a wealth of different kinds of people. Normally I'm a huge fan of diversity, especially in its truest form (physical appearance). However, through reading these message boards, I've stumbled across some information that frightens and disturbs me.

Apparently, we're not all human here. There actually exist a number of people who do not even possess a human soul, outwardly human as they may appear. And what do they have instead? Some are inhabited by the souls of common animals like foxes, or house cats. Others are possessed by the souls of creatures thought by many to be fictional (dragons, angels, unicorns, phoenixes, etc.) Some of you nonbelievers may scoff but make no mistake about it folks, these people are real, their souls are real, the creatures are real, but above all, the danger is real.

To say that this isn't a danger is a vulgar display of naivete. Dragons, for example, are known for their ruthless antagonism towards mankind. Wildcats are tremendously hostile towards humans. Animals have no interest in helping humankind progress, as their bestial instincts do not allow them to want such things. As humans, we must act in the best interest of humankind. If people allow themselves to be swayed by the influence of the spirit of Cerberus dwelling inside themselves, humanity will suffer.

I have seen many confess to being indwelt by the spirit of a violent animal like a wolf, or a panther. What will happen when the dragons and the other carnivorous killers of the animal kingdom exploit the superior intellect of humans in order to meet the goals of their souls' true species? I'm no clairvoyant, but I would assume mass bloodshed across the globe, for starters. Man's ongoing war with nature would become Man's war with himself.

The origin of this kind of spiritual inhabitation is puzzling. Many are unaware of how their animal souls came to them, just that they simply are there. Others have said that they have snippets of unfamiliar memories, likely from a previous life in the original body of their spirit animal. In any case, the threat remains the same. Be on your toes, boys and girls. The next time a stranger glares at you, it could very well be a hungry timber wolf.

You slapping a dangerous label on all those who aren't spiritaully human is like saying that every homosexual of the same gender is dangerous and could rape you. Do you think its okay to pick on them because they aren't getting simpathy from the mass populations like homosexuals?

Hitler, stalin? Clearly dragons or demons. Communists? They probably have the souls of ants, or bees.

So... There are no bad people, only bad dragons? Wtf?

It's probably just the ones who commit genocide that are dragons. I mean dragons are typically seen as huge predators. But put their soul into a human, and just like a house cat who toys with its prey even though it isn't hungry, the dragon satiates its own desire to hunt in a way more appropriate to its body.

Accutally, yes I do, because I have. Now, I hate talking about this because I sound like such an attention seeker; OMG I ISH TEH FOXISM!! (if you've noticed up to now, I've been saying 'they' not 'we') Yes, I believe I posses the soul of a canine, likey a fox though I'm still not completly sure. Not that of a human, though unfortunatally I am pysically a human, I'm in a human body and I can never change that. I've learned to controll my disires to rip apart fleash. And I have a pretty low selfcontroll. If I can, so can everybody else. So, just because I might want to kill somebody, and I might be more likey to lash out in a pysical mannor doesn't mean I'm going to.

Why does NOBODY ever roleplay/furry as a turtle? Are turtles just not cool enough? I mean, with all these random animal souls posessing human bodies there must be a manturtle out there SOMEwhere.

Any 'beast' is dangerious, if it is a physical or phsycological danger. Something that you are not even considering is the MEANING of an animal. For example, Dragons, since you seem to like picking on them the most have the attributes of being wise, protecting, and elemental magic. This is simply saying that the person who possesses such a spirit animal either desires these attributes or has them to a certain extent. Its a personality, not a danger. Now needless to say, I dont beleive that nearly as many people who claim this powerful spirit actually have its grace in their presence, its just a matter of popularity. "Oh oh oh, I want to be the firy dragon that pretects the Cave!!!" type thing.

Another great example is my own spirit guide, a fox. Now any of the canine family represents change and growth as well as a guide to the otherworlds, this includes a guide to the land of the dead. That is what most people, especially like you who seem to twist the way a person is looked at, would find EXTREMELY dangerious, perhaps more so than a Dragon or 'beast' that is vile and cannot control its instinct.

Now the part in bold just pisses me off. Superior intellect? That is like saying we are not even part of the animal kingdom. Which even in Science is bull, people simply like to think of themselves as superior even though if we ran around naked we would be screwing more than any other 'beast' on the planet!! How does this make us superior? Because we bother with things like numbers and calculating life in its every aspect. Anyone ever even TRIED to ask an animal what their opinions are? How much they know that we couldnt ever possibly understand because of our "Intellect". Its Ridiculous! Just for once I would really like to see these philosiphers read or watch Gullivers Travels and take the ENTIRE movie into heart. But as always you will twist and mold it to prove your own opinion when the FACT still remains.

I dunno.. They're still talking about the most famous Otherkin in all of our history. You've probably heard of 'im. You know. The "Son of God," and all.

~In response to the first Post~

There is one thing i disagree on. You say that the threat is great of the "Carnivorous" creatures may arise and kill us and such. You speak about Animals as if they are the scurge of the planet. I guess it takes someone with an "Animals" or "Mythical creature's" soul to sympathsize with the reality before us, generally speaking since you spoke so generally about them. For the first time you've made me want to admit to a stranger that i am the reincarnation of a demon dragon, though i am not evil. A "full-blooded" dragon is a magnificent creature full of wisdom and knowledge, they are the keepers of secrets and the echoes of instilled time; both mysterious and charming, i love the dragon race, and when one claims them to be vile demonic creatures, i cannot stand to bear the insults. Yes i said i am a Demon Dragon, part demon, part dragon. Though I am FAR from evil. It causes me pain to even yell at someone (sometimes i end up crying a bit afterwards because i feel bad....even though i'm 18 icon_sweatdrop.gif ). I have an ancient soul as i dream its ancient memories all the time. Though i can guarantee you that i am no threat. As a saying i know of goes "A man who points a weapon, should be prepared to die by one." In this case it is only metaphorically speaking...

How offensive. Have you ever met a dragon? How do you KNOW what All dragons are like??? How can you just judge them by the baised, outdated tales of poor peasants in the 1600's? Dragons could be very kind and generous for all you know. icon_evil.gif

icon_stare.gif This topic shouldn't be allowed......it's insulting us with souls......good grief just leavce us alone....what did we do to you???? Hey, whoever started this, what do you care that some have souls of animals or creatures??? One day, I hope to be there when those people finally lose their animal instict control and attack you....I will be there laughing at you very muchly and between laughs telling you 'Hate to say I told you so, but....' I have a creature soul too....but luckily for you even though I have the soul of elf, thus I will not par-take in attacking you but I will enjoy every minute......and I wait to see what little remark you have to say.....Humans don't have souls

To me a soul is a part of you....no, it IS you......everything that makes you, you is from your soul..your personality, your interests, you favorites,....its you.....humans don't have souls, because they either got theirs traped in a mirror(my reason for why breaking one is unluck and is most common)or just down-right had one at one point but they were so evilly driven that they lost it because the soul is naturally caring, and will only come to hate the body its in if it is evilly driven.....is that enough or do you want more??? icon_sweatdrop.gif

Wait..
If humans don't have souls...
Then how the hell do you have a soul?
Your a human!

~I've been looking in the mirror for so long.
That I've come to believe my souls on the other side.~

Above is actual lyrics from Evanescence.....I suppose that that you've heard of the person in the mirror, right?? Well the person in the mirror is the dark side of you that broke away from you and hides in the mirror, well, it likes to steal your soul if you look in that mirror alot.....I don't have much experience in that matter 'cause 1) I don't look in the mirror enough to have them take it. and 2) Well, I'm an elf.....we learned how to lock it from everyone else......believe what you want but you asked so I told....At least I'm clear and know what I'm talking about and stand strongly firm at one idea......human like to say one thing then say something completely different...there are exception to my trhoughts of humans by the way...there is no way to say that something with a mind able to think for itself is one thing and thats that.......

No offense to any Otherkin in the house, but what I can't believe is that the above wank seems to be limited to "Otherkin are evil because they are DRAGONS!" vs. "Dragons are not EVIL!" As opposed to say, "Dude, no such thing as dragons, FYI."

...This is as ridiculous as the mind-boggling conversation I had once with a guy who tried to convince me that robots have feelings and should be awarded the rights that humans have been denying them for decades. This came about during his long tirade on the appalling treatment of them in the movie I, Robot. I'd like to believe he was on drugs, and that all these people are too, but I just can't. :/

Have you ever met a dragon? No, I hear they only hang around the cool kids.
How do you KNOW what All dragons are like??? Becuz I lyk read The Hobbit. Pshaw.
How can you just judge them by the baised, outdated tales of poor peasants in the 1600's? While this argument might work for other things, such as the claim that people with hairy palms were werewolves or that women with warts were witches, it doesn't here. No one believes 17th century tales of dragons. You can figure out why not on your own, when you grow a sense of reality.
Dragons could be very kind and generous for all you know. Next time I meet one, I'll send him over to your house with a fruit cake.

I don't know what I may be. I find mostly perhaps a wolf.

If you know, perhaps you can pull the answer from these facts.

I despise the government, I prefer Monarchy for some reason...as the commoners in Full Metal Alchemist, "Those government dogs!"
I'm pretty quiet and anti-social, gain friends through anonymous...events. I much prefer staying away from the friends who all just want to have some harmful fun, and stay with those that are like me...maybe insane, fun-loving, likes things towards the Middle Ages, maybe violent fantasy, and more...I can be aggressive. If I weren't held back by whatever...my conscience, parents, TEACHERS....witnesses.

How are any of those traits descaribed above wolf-like?! Has she never even watched the Discovery channel? You know if I was going to be an otherkin I'd at least research whatever the hell I'm suppose to be.

At first I thought the OP was trolling. And damn, that would have been an awesome troll! Alas, s/h/it was serious. *sigh*

I'm rather fond of the line, "So... There are no bad people, only bad dragons? Wtf?" And the line about the turtle was amusing.

Isn't there a line in the latest HP movie about there being a lion in every boy and a swan in every girl or something? I haven't seen the movie yet, but I remember being told that. I was just reminded of that reading this.

So, unless foxes popularity is coming from anime, not all are just wanting to be uber powerful animals to feel specail. I know I'm not. If I could pick, I'd probably go for the uber strong and fast loin.

So you're not just limited to animals, either? Cool! Personally I'd pick the super-intelligent and extra-hot brain soul. (That is if I weren't a sad little mouse already)

Why does NOBODY ever roleplay/furry as a turtle? Are turtles just not cool enough? I mean, with all these random animal souls posessing human bodies there must be a manturtle out there SOMEwhere.

Not a manturtle, it's a NINJA TURTLE! w00t
