Fun with LiveJournal announcements
These are always fun, the wank always flows freely here.

----

In the announcements the staff have said that even more password change nags are coming. Most aren't too happy with it and literally every single time anyone complains, comments on or questions it, the aptly named [info]ragingemu spams them with this:

Boilerplate comment:

-Disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated with LiveJournal.-

Every LiveJournal user's password affects other users. Not only could someone who compromised your account read locked entries made by people who list you as a friend, but of far greater concern, in no small part because it's an ongoing problem, is the threat of people using compromised-and therefore legitimate-looking accounts to spam hundreds of communities in an attempt to spread malware. Not only does this legitimately endanger and result in the harm of other LiveJournal users, the subsequent clean-up takes a lot of otherwise unnecessary time and effort on the part of LiveJournal's staff.

By requiring more complex passwords which are consequently much harder to crack for the automated password-guessing break-in programs used by these attackers, LiveJournal's administrators are making all of us safer, and saving us and themselves plenty of time and headaches further down the road, so that LiveJournal can be a safer, better place.

May I remind you all that this thread is a good 11+ pages long, so there's quite a few of these 'boilerplates'.

----

We also have eight million people complaining about the seasonal banner, but that's not interesting enough to report here.

----
For another bit of actual wank, we have a lovely Christian bashing subthread. Watch out for the sweeping generalisations!

Quoting [info]rfjason:
Christians are nothing but hate. They hate gays, they hate other religions (there are entire BOOKS that compare the bible to the Qu'ran, and make it a point to slam the Qu'ran as a flawed work by a flawed people, to put it mildly), and they hate anything that threatens the "word of God."

Did you miss the whole Intelligent Design debate? Christians are nuts.

He makes me feel for Christians and for atheists for having him in their corner.

----

Then we have another junior wank in the subthread here started off by this post by [info]renardius:
Holiday shenanigans
Nobody wants it, nobody needs it. A waste of time, and an unkind message to out atheist friends.

Staff changes
Nobody cares, as long as it works.

The move to SanFran
So, you lock down the site for a while and unleash glitches to relocate the servers to smack-dab on top of the San Andreas Fault? Smooth. Enjoy your Rice-a-Roni.

Passwords
Again, unwanted. When your rival sites start launching massive haxoring attempts, then I'll worry about my password.

Frank
Frank's journal is now socialized? Fantastic. By the way, I always found it amusing that LiveJournal's mascot was an animal with a propensity for stubbornness and eating trash.

Our good friends [info]rfjason and [info]ragingemu make a reappearence in the comments.

That's about it for the wanks, but knowing the announcement threads, more will come later. Let me know if I botch up the links!
