mock_the_stupid wankery
Note: this was originally posted in [info]clairvoyantwank, but has since graduated to full wank status.

Opalcat, who moderates the "Mock the Stupid" community, recently rejected a queued post about a baby dying in a dryer. She ranted at the poster in an unaddressed post to the community.

Misanthr0py is trolling the comments, hatsumomo is whining about censorship, lordshamus has fired a warning shot that tl;dr is on the way, and a handful of members are poking other members by correcting their spelling and grammar.

And of course, misanthr0py posted that baby-cannibalism photo from rotten. SCREENED. It was a hotlink from Rotten.com: the photomanip of a guy eating a fetus, if you simply must see. (I got sick of looking at it and blocked it, so I can't give you a direct link).

That makes me feel a little better, actually. It's disconcerting when sanity comes from someone you associate with the craziness, and now the world is back on its axis. But why did she have to use a Kagura icon? ~cuddles my precious favourite~ Of course, Kagura's not madly endowed with brains...

The sheer amount of "appreciate my SUFFERING, mortals" opalcat does every time she mentions she's the mod makes me not care at all. Seriously, woman. If it's that much of an imposition, delete the damn community and get on with your life.

The thing I hate most about dead baby jokes--other than the fact that most of them aren't funny--is the "see how edgy I am? It's funny because it's a baby and it's dead" look the joke teller usually gives me afterwards.

Oy. I dunno. On the one hand, I don't think that sounds very funny either. On the other hand, like [info]kadath, I get so incredibly tired of [info]opalcat's high-handed whining. Not to mention her sycophantic fans.

In all I think this post was pretty unnecessary and probably engineered to stir up the opalcat fanbase. Meh. There's a reason I'm not actually in that commmunity.

Do you read MTS regularly? If it'd just been the one post I'd be fine with it, but it happens fairly often and it gets kind of old. I think it's, in your words, the long-suffering vibe I constantly get from her, combined with the yes-men attitude of a lot of the members there. It just grates on my nerves.

Hmm, I guess that is a fair point. I actually run an RPG online, which I used to co-mod with two other ladies... long story short, I'm the only one now. *g* and I guess it does work better that way. I definitely haven't wanted to get another co-mod. OTOH, my game has like... twenty people in it, not six thousand.
