LJ gives upgrades for Christmas, free not good enough for some people.

Especially "early adopters" like [info]talula_belle, who pay nothing but still want more than the other people who pay nothing:
something was taken away, because nothing was given equally to early adopters the way it was given to the other account types.

Don't early adopters usually get the same stuff permanent account holders get? Or did I just hallucinate reading that somewhere?

Not that more Scrapbook space is all that exciting, but it's a nice gesture.

No, they don't. They originally had accounts better than free accounts, but LJ has slowly given free users more benefits so that EAs are not terribly special anymore.

but I love scrapbook! it's so much easier than photobucket or imageshack for storing photos that don't draw on my domain's bandwidth. and more space means I can put stuff there that I use here on jf (not that I do, yet, but I will be soon, when I start posting fic reviews here), or for other people who aren't paid but want fancy graphical designs.

I so rarely see people go "yay! scrapbook!", I thought I'd point to the good bit here.

It's exiciting for me, as I post photographs.

I suspect that's part of why they've upped the amount. If so few people use ScrapBook, then they don't have to worry about coming through with the (n)1G, for (n) as number of paid users.

I'll admit that as a paid user, I'd have preferred to have more icon slots over the extra gig that I'll never use. But it'd be kind of rude to bitch about it. The gesture was nice, at any rate. I'm sure many other paid users were thrilled to have the extra gig.

But I just don't get the entitlement attitude of the early adopters. So they started using a *free* service towards the beginning of it's inception? So what? What makes them special? Why should they get special perks?

And ditto on the above "It goes to show that people will wank about anything." comment. AMEN.
