Happy Wankmas!
Over at bad_service, metis2be whinges:

I deleted my last entry about my ring from amazon. I'm sorry that my attitude offended so many people, I just wanted something nice that I could keep with me at all times so that I could appriciate how beautiful it was and think about how much I love him. The reason I picked it out myself is that I'm very picky about things like that, like I said I looked through at least 500 rings and that was the only one I actually liked. I'm sorry that people found this so loathsome.

People wank.

Poor, sensitive metis2be feels bad when someone buys her a gift she doesn't like, so she forced him to buy her something he didn't want to get.

Good advice from skysurfer.

shatteredshards and nikkita get into it over what is and isn't LJ drama.

yourmomtoldme points out that NO ONE CARES.

Small, but still growing slowly. So cute!

(For reference, the original post was all about how her bf didn't want to get her a ring for Christmas but she insisted, and she picked it out for herself because she only likes a certain type of ring. (An oval stone set in a plain band, if I remember correctly; they're not that rare) Finally found one through Amazon, blahblah, she gets the ring and it's not Exactly What Was Shown, and they dared to take the listing down in the meantime. So now she guesses she'll wear it around her neck because she could not possibly wear something so hideously ugly on her finger. Meh.)

[Edit: bahleeted already. So sad!]

What a thoughtful gift to remind her about his love. Nothing says 'I Love You' like a hand-picked gift from the give--oh wait...

I also just want to say... this is what happens when you buy jewelry on the intenet instead of just going to a store.

Sometimes it's easier for them to pick, I bought my boyfriend a sword but he went to the shop with me and picked it out himself. He actually hated the one I was planning on getting him so I'm glad. XD

I'm going to have to disagree -- slightly -- with this. I have a friend who's now completely blind (it started out as macular degeneration, and deteriorated from there). She loves shopping for gifts for herself and others through the 'net (she has a Kurzweill reader); snd watches HSN and QVC religiously, simply because the descriptors for the products go on and on and on, so she pretty much gets a good visual representation of an item before she orders it. Of course, like any sane person, when she gets the package, she still asks sighted friends if the items go together, and will return as necessary.

It just looks like this chick needs a clue by four, and her bf should be the one to give it to her.

Very rarely does the prodict look exactly as pictured.

I cry every day my Whopper isn't a majestically towering mass of flame-broiled cow. How dare they lie to me.

(And why isn't my Kong sized Whopper unable to demolish my car?!)

Happy Wankmas!

Aww! This Wankmas present doesn't match the ad you gave at all! It isn't even the one I picked out on Wankreport. You bitch. I have half a mind to make a whiny post about it on the internets.

A quick gander at her LJ shows someone who's got a pretty strange view of the world.

Wow, the most drama I've seen on livejournal EVER has to be the crochet community. Seriously, it's about yarn, how can people cause that many issues? I guess with all the bored housewives, they need something to do and didn't feel like turning to alcohol.

From the wishlist on her LJ:

If people like to be boring and impersonal, there's always gift cards, I guess the best place would be AC Moore since they have a pretty good selection, but Michaels is alot closer to me, so if that's the store you can get a card for, I'd be just as happy. Don't get one for Joanne Fabrics, that store sucks. Also, Amazon is an option (do they even have gift cards? I'm sure they do.)

Sure, go ahead and insult people who will be buying your greedy-ass presents by calling them 'boring' and 'impersonal'. I got gift cards for Christmas and thought it was fantastic, given that I'm moving in a month and will probably need stuff to eat off.

I'd love to get gift cards! :( It's kinda annoying how I get jewelry and perfume if people have no clue what to get me but my boyfriend gets Best Buy gift cards. I wanted to trade him.

From the age of 13 on, my family's never been able to shop for me because I'm the 'oddball'. Last time they bought me gifts, it was the Christmas of Earrings since that was all they bought me and other than one pair of tasteful silver leaves, nothing else was wearable because they were so hideous.

After that, it's been giftcards/certificates from bookstores. Overall, that works out better since they'd really be questioning my sanity with what books I end up buying.

I don't really see her behaviour as *too* bad. Then again, my ideas on present-buying are warped by my family's tradition of telling me to go shopping and buy something, and then they'll pay me back for it.

Apart from books and CDs and other such things I'd actually want, since "I can buy them myself".
