[info]prozackat posts to [info]hip_domestics about the "'I hate you' baby toy." Several people advise her that she should check with snopes.com, as it might be a hoax, and others note that her source is prone to slant and bias.

Watch her argue against every single person that because she saw it on TV, too, she trusts that it's completely and perfectly true.

LOL We sometimes coslept with our son when he was a baby and never had a problem, but we propped him on pillows and were vewy careful. It's been known to happen that parents smother their babies during cosleeping, unfortunately.

One of my friends coslept with her kid for a good long time...she swears it was mostly responsible for her actually getting a good night's sleep after the kid started to be mobile, because when the baby got hungry, he knew where food came from, and she sleeps naked.

Baby would get hungry, crawl up, latch on, nurse, and fall asleep on mommy's tummy.

This worked fine until baby started to grow teeth. Then a new plan was needed.

A few years back, PSM ran an April Fools article about an upcoming Tomb Raider style videogame where the heroine was unclad save for her gun belt and a pair of boots. Had a picture of her on the cover and everything, with broad black bars over the applicable parts.
A number of news outlets immediately went on the warpath decrying this game and getting all over it. These included such media giants as CNN. None of them attempted to contact PSM as the source of the article. None of them attempted to contact the (fictional) company producing the game. It was sensational and something attention-grabbing, and they ran with it, authenticity or fact-checking bedamned.
And that's why, kids, you can trust everything you hear on the news as being the absolute truth!

People will believe anything, literally anything, that fits their preconceived notions. Never mind that it would be damn difficult to get such a game financed for mainstream release or that they'd expect backlash from conservative groups before they even started. Video games are CLEARLY evil, as EVERYONE knows, and this just PROVES it.

As long as it doesn't require them to think or change their preexisting biases, people will swallow anything. Yes, this applies to every point along the political spectrum. Every.
