apostraphe!!!!
Sarcastro posted a metaquote about how long-haired men look like bemulleted lesbian Hanson brothers who can't change tires.

Some people disagree.

Some people think people who disagree are taking the quote too seriously.

And then the Mod Himself descended from the Metaheavens and promised smitings and swarms of ass-locusts should Haldirsbitch ever sass anyone in Metaquotes again.

Happy New Year!

...I'm sorry, but the modding of Metaquotes has gone to *shit* since Kielle died. Who the hell are they getting to be mods these days? Humorless Dick Off The Street?

Oh, thank fuck it's not just me. The "Every post, locked or not, must be QWP and you have to SAY SO!" rule is bad enough, the "Link to context, BIATCHES!" one is even worse, and now this? Gah!

Word. They try way too damn hard anymore.

Here I thought the "post what you want, whining will be mocked and drama will be stomped" approach worked just fine.

Me too! I mean, I can see how the line between "Whinging about how a quote isn't funny isn't allowed" and "Post whatever you want, no matter how bigoted/offensive/downright off, and no one is allowed to tell you off for it" can be hard to draw, but for fuck's sake, people!

The "Every post, locked or not, must be QWP and you have to SAY SO!"

..I'd largely been ignoring the community for ages. I did not know about this new rule. I am now head-desking so hard.

Jesus, that's dumb.

So fucking annoying! Because then you have to wait for permission and GAH!

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]m_butterfly
2006-01-03 02:21 pm UTC (link)
It explains why that one person waiting for my response was so "finally!" about it. Oops.

It just never occurred to me they'd make that a rule. I mean... every time I post without a f-lock, I do so with the understanding people can and might quote me elsewhere--in their own journals, in communities, off LJ even. So if I don't want something spread any farther, I either f-lock or just don't post at all. So what the hell is with...?

No, don't tell me. I'm positive there's some kind of weak logic or some kind of story involving some indignant somebody who couldn't do the mental math I outlined above. And it would annoy me a lot less if it had always been in the rules, but as is? *headshake*

Was Kielle the one who made the "Smile! You've been metaquoted!" image, or was that someone else? I guess you can't use it anymore, in either case--it'd need to be edited to, "Smile! You've been requested for permission to metaquote and if you don't reply to this it'll never happen!"

She made a wodge of Stickynote graphics, and I believe that was one of them. I don't think she was the only one to make a "you've been metaquoted!" graphic.

Gah, I mostly read my LJ flist on a no-communities filter at work and when I'm tired (which is all the damn time when I'm not at work), so I missed it too. So, so stupid.

I thought it was just me thinking that. Getting pissy if the post isn't linked, warning people right and left - it's really annoying.

I know the feeling.

If it's friends-locked and quoted with permission, isn't that enough? It's not as if we can read it, anyway—and linking to it isn't necessarily going to make the person that locked it unlock it. Why bother with warnings about f-locked posts?

The mind, it boggles.

[info]trollprincess did a good job, but there's too many of them now.

And when I say too many, I mean [info]joshualore. Is it possible to mod worse than that? And why does s/h/it type their modly announcements all in lower case when their shift key works just fine for screaming purposes?

I knew this would show up here. Metaquotes is the rare sort of community where you can see wank on the horizon a mile away.

Still, we're wanking over hair now? I thought the ice-cream wank was bad enough.

Given an infinite number of communities with an infinite number of members in an infinite period of time, eventually everything, no matter how minor, boring, or day-to-day, will have been or will become the topic of wank.

However, despite that, there will always be at least one person going, "Oh come on, this is so lame/stupid."

Hey! You leave the LJDQ out of your wank! Just because they've been wankfree for ages and you guys haven't.

And I second the metaquotes OP on the mullet-banning, especially for girls.
