Winamp Wank
I didn't think it existed, but apparently it does. This one starts out when Rabid Snowbunny's skins are removed from DeviantArt, a site that puts up people's skins, fanart, etc.

The problem? Nieman, who has recently taken over the position of "Gallery Director of the Application Skins and THemes galleries" (strange capitalization his), proclaims a Jihad (again, his term, not mine) against skinning programs.

Many people respond. Most-- not so well.

All fear the Jihad of the mighty Mr. Photoshopmaster.

Tis a small wank, but has been growing all day. I have hope for it. In the sadistic way.

This is what I love about dA: When the l33tgr4f1x kiddies clash with the fanart kiddies, wank-a-plenty spews.

Even though I'm one of the former, and though chopped skins annoy the fuck out of me, I think that...well...dA's not an arbiter of standards. By default, it's open to anyone who'd like to post. Shitty skins are not going to get them in legal trouble. I really think Nieman needs to get off of his high horse and realize that some people aren't as good as him at image manipulation.

It's like if

zorrorojo decided to ban all icons that were just cropped. It's bullshit.

No shit. This guy has a tad bit of an ego problem. And the ass kissing by some of the members is nauseating. And saying that people have no right to be mad when even the stuff they worked hard on gets arbitrarily deleted. Hell, i'd be pissed off too.

I like how one of the members on the first page quotes part of the site's rules about how they have the right to delete anything they see fit. I somehow doubt he'd feel that way if it was his work that got deleted for no good reason.

Okay. I use Skinamp to make skins. Yes, it's a shortcut.

No, it doesn't do everygoddamthing for you. I still make the play/pause/etc buttons themselves by hand (Skinamp makes the graphics, yes, but they're ass-ugly and I just use Skinamp's chop for positioning ease), still make the base images, still tweak and rework to make sure important bits of it aren't covered up by WinAmp's important bits, still make the sliders and seek bars and shit myself. It's not as if I just feed a .bmp to the damn program, say "Go!" and slap the not-so-finished product up for download.

Even though all Skinamp does is save me a little sanity with positioning and crap like that--I still do the hard part--using Skinamp at all makes me hopelessly non-l33t.
